Governor Nikki Haley Joins Sarah Palin in Recommending Allen West for Vice President

By Gary P Jackson

Sarah Palin has repeatedly mentioned Allen West as her top choice for Vice President. [no matter who the eventual nominee is] Now South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is joining her with that recommendation.

From The Hill:

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a top surrogate for GOP front-runner Mitt Romney, suggested Wednesday night that controversial Tea Party freshman Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) could be a “good” choice as the party’s vice presidential nominee.

You’ve got great ones. You have heard Gov. Palin talk about West, and he’s good,” Haley told Fox News. “Of course, Marco Rubio is great, and Chris Christie. We know he can be the fighter, and I think there are so many really great ones out there. I think Romney is going to have a hard time picking.

Palin told Fox on Tuesday night that she hoped Romney “goes rogue” and picks someone like West for the nomination.

Top of my list is Allen West,” Palin said. “I love that he has that military experience, he is a public servant willing to serve for the right reasons. When I talk about going rogue, what I want is to encourage the GOP nominee to not think that they have to go with somebody necessarily safe.

West, a conservative firebrand, has won over Tea Party supporters with his frank and unfiltered criticism of not just President Obama, but the Republican congressional leadership. But he’s also raised eyebrows with some comments, like when he suggested that President Obama “get the hell out of the United States of America” or called Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) a “plantation overseer.

Allen West would be an excellent VP choice. He has consistently been the overwhelming choice of Conservatives since speculation about 2012 began. He’s a take charge, no nonsense guy. He says what he means and means what he says. He has a solid grasp of the Constitution, and understands that Liberty and Freedom are essential.

I don’t see Mitt Romney picking West though. That’s too far out of the box for him. I suspect we’ll see someone more conventional, and unexciting. A “safe” candidate. If he does, that will be a real shame.

  1. I do hope we are short selling Romney’s rational thinking and judgment abilities by assuming he’s going to pick “someone safe”……..

As a active Tea Party type member, I was so impressed with Allen West I contributed to Allen West’s his campaign in 2010 even though I’m in Texas and he’s in Florida…Tea party people are not enthusiatically gravitating to Romney; but we’re not kicking and screaming either….a conservative Vice Presidential choice would sit a lot better with us though. Many Tea Party people are Independents who won’t be swayed with a safe choice…

And Isn’t the real fight over the Independents?? Aren’t the Independents the group that put Obama in??…..because those Independents wanted to appear broad minded and intellectually enlightened to vote for the young man who promised hope and change…….and happened to be black??

It’s hard to know what Romney would do. His record is a mess. I just don’t see him doing anything as brilliant as choosing West. He’ll likely pick another squish.

As for independents, don’t forget many of us who call ourselves independent are Conservatives who are sick of the GOP. I was a long time card carrying, cash donating member of the Republican Party, but no more.

The proven way to win is secure an enthusiastic base and go from there. Conservatism has won, and won big every time it’s been tried. Being “moderate” or “democrat-light” is a sure way to get beat.

I’m sort of resigned to the reality that Romney will be the nominee, but it’s hard to get excited. The only real motivation is getting rid of Obama. I hope that’s enough!

        First, I wanted Rick Perry.
        Then, I wanted Newt Gingrich.
        Then, I wanted Rick Santorum.
Now, it seems inevitable that Romney will get the GOP nomination.
The smartest thing that he could do is to select Col. West as his Vice-Presidential running mate.
But with Romney, don’t be surprised if he selects Captain Spaceman-Ron Paul.

Yeah, Allen West is the sensible choice, which means Romney won’t make it. The GOP Elites™ are suggesting Rob Portman. Not sure that’s the answer. I just hope he doesn’t pick NJ Fats, Marco Rubio, or Jeb Bush.

Rick Perry is my governor and I can tell you, us Texans can’t wait to run him out of office. When you look up crony capitalism, you’ll see his picture. We knew he would crash and burn on the national stage. The guy has been lucky that all of his competition in Texas has always been worse.

Newt and Santorum are just more of the same old Big Government progressive that have got us in this mess.

The person who should have ran, and would have won didn’t, that’s why we are stuck with Romney now. At least he’s better than Obama.

Hi Gary: I’ve found the mission/attitude of the ‘No Labels’ group is an in-
teresting change…They claim they are not just a bi-partisan bunch but a
front that feels that isolating issues and solving problems is more impor-
tant than spending millions of dollars smearing eachother and missing
the opportunity to really get things done and the nation’s needs addres-
sed…One of the first things I wud do, if asked for ideas, wud be to tell
Big Oil to go to Hell and enact my fuels-reforms [$1.25-1.50/USG, .25
for Sam’s Infrastruct Fund, .10 for my favorite station, and .08-.09 to my
state. I wud encourage every competent shop to test and recommend
a cheap and a more-expensive HHO gas generator and fuel-saving ac-
cessories/parts…In a year or less, ALL commercial trucks, off-road mac-
hinery, aircraft, boats, trains shud be modified to the best, economic, and
clean-running operation…All folks who do not drive far wud be assisted
in choosing an Electric Vehicle…At home, folks cud add HHO to their HV-
AC and enjoy cheaper comfort…The next thing wud be to summond all
undocumented aliens and their families. If they are not felons or evil gang-
stas, I wud enroll them in my ‘Four Courses To Citizenship’ The badguys
go Adios! Don’t come back or we’ll send you to Gulag AK or Shark Beach,
Northern Marianas–for ever!..Finally, I wud cleanup high mgmt in Ameri-
ca: Ripoffs, gamblers, croox wud be nailed because they are BAD; Out-
rageously rich CEOs wud be discharged because they are GREEDY. This
is not a political move, it is just common sense…Aaron Allen…

The “no labels” group is a bunch of so-called “moderates” who support Big Government losers like Obama. Bunch of phonies.
