Sarah Palin: Romney Needs to be Bolder, More Courageous

By Gary P Jackson

Appearing on the Sean Hannity Show Tuesday night, Sarah Palin talks about the presidential race. They talk about the media and the bogus polling being floated about. .

The take-away though is what she says about Mitt Romney, who still doesn’t have a clear message, and totally underwhelms the base of the Republican Party. While most of us will vote for Mitt, because Obama must go no matter what, few are excited about it.

Sarah tells Romney he needs to be bolder and courageous. She also notes that Romney once said he wasn’t going to “set his hair on fire” while running. She answers that by saying he had better set the base’s hair on fire, meaning he better do something to get everyone fired up. To inspire voters to come out and support him. And she’s right.

Ronald Reagan used to say that Conservatives need to paint in bold colors. No pale pastels. Mitt Romney [or any other candidate] isn’t going to win by simply being “Not Barack Obama.” Oh, he’ll get a significant number of votes, but will it be enough to put him over the top?

People want to vote FOR someone, not AGAINST someone else.

You’d think Mitt would have learned this lesson from the primaries, where much of his competition ran on being “Not Mitt Romney” rather than offering up bold solutions.

  1. Of course She is right, she is always right.. i don’t know how long it’s going to take for everyone to realize the USA needs Sarah Palin, RIGHT NOW, in one capacity or another,, then in 2016 She will run and win the Presidency…. She definitely needs to be part of Romney’s administration… have a nice day………..

  2. Ditto!!

BTW, I’ve been sort of out of the loop re Michael Savage the past couple of months ’cause of radio transmission problems (the local station that carries him – but only sporadically – has a weak signal, and we’re up against a low-range mountain), so I was unprepared for his nasty remarks about Palin this evening (just happened to get the radio signal in a bit clearer – AND the baseball game(s), which usually pre-empt him, weren’t on tonight!). I knew he wasn’t a big fan; but when he remarked that Ann Romney had mentioned (very much in passing) that women, as well as men, were under consideration for the VP post, he then gratuitously opined that he hoped & prayed that “that woman” (without mentioning her by name) – “which had been such a disaster! Oy!!” – wasn’t in the running. He kept referring to her as “Mush! Mush!”

With that, I turned off the radio and will, but, NEVER listen to that pathetic asshat again!! He’s now joined Debbie Schlussel on my own personal shit list of irredeemable right-wing whack jobs…

Michael Savage has always been a nasty little man. Never cared for his brand of BS. Too many better options.

Hi Gary: Mitt shud respond [thru action and effect] to Sarah’s constructive
criticism…Instead of handlers and keepers, Romney needs skilled stafffolk
who can really help him propose/promise/deliver tangible changes in our
distress…Who wud be nominated for his cabinet? What real changes does
he propose [rather than generalities]? How wud he restore an economy we
badly need? If he truly has executive/management ability, why doesn’t he
disclose how he wud ‘save America’? Like my ‘panels’ of 3-4 SCOTUS nom-
inees, how about 3-4 Romney Cabinet-candidates [under consideration]
who wud use some of the zillions of ‘monsterpac’ bucks to make informative
radio-TV spots and half-pages in newspapers–similar to the famous ‘Feder
alist Papers’. The spots and half-pages wud be complementary and wud
propose workable solutions to our serious issues?..Aaron Allen…

I agree. Mitt needs to be a little more specific. The problem is, the GOP Establishment™ only knows how to play defense. Mitt’s got a better staff than some, but they are playing it too safe.

A lot of Conservatives just hate the man, but he’s actually got a wonderful story to tell, if he’d just tell it!

Now is not the time to be timid in any way.

[Aaron again] Hi Gary: I just noticed that Mitt does not wear a US Flag pin
in his buttonhole [when wearing suits]…Even as a Mormon, he shud be
able [and willing] to wear an appropriate lapel pin: He can always take t off
when entering Temple but most Mormons I’ve met/known were able to wear
    a US Flag pin..Am I being too picky?…Aaron Allen…

    • Gary P Jackson

I never noticed that. Though many do not wear one. I didn’t realize the Mormon faith would somehow preclude him from wearing one inside the temple. Very interesting point indeed.

Hi Gary: In the last few days, I’ve watched Mitt and Ann try to answer the
demands that they disclose their tax returns and other data and, realizing
that Ann was right to say, “If we give ‘them’ our tax returns it will only add
to more and more” [demands, questions, etc] Here’s an idea: Without giv-
    ing specific dollar-sums, release a ‘pie-chart’ of the last 10 years–showing
in ‘slices’ and percentages of their actual financial in/out? Another three
items: 1. A Statement of Condition by a reputable accounting firm which
wud indicate if the Romneys have been and are in compliance with the
Law…2. Their ‘credit score’–assessed like the rest of us…3. A ‘how we
do it’ handbook, explaining how they manage to legally operate and keep most of their wealth? I was wondering if they had opened 100-200 Roth IRA accounts or done some other thing [open several large anuities?]…If they cud write a book on ‘gittin it and keepin it’ [but tithe, of course!]…I wonder if the LDS Church has a combo IRA/Annuity plan which includes adequate insurance and trust management?..My point is they don’t have
to tell us exactly how much they made or still have–just chart it in a per-
centage of the whole–the pie can be of any total size but how big the
slices are is what counts?..Aaron Allen…

This is a major error on Romney’s part. He’s rich, we get it. No one but the communists care. We also gotta figure that since the guy has never been audited, his finances are likely in order. That said, it looks like he’s trying to hide something to the average, poorly informed voter.

There’s a bigger issue, his bundlers. He has yet to disclose who all of them are. We know some, and it’s not good. I’ll have more on this later.

Mitt should have disclosed all of this in the primaries. It would be old news now, instead of front and center.

Hi Gary: I agree on your judgement on the Romneys’ worth and that he/
they are probably ‘in order’, taxwise…I still think they cud give us a peek
at their ‘pie-chart’ with its percentage ‘slices’: Whether the pie is a small,
    microwave-sized chicken-pot pie’ or a 3 ft. trucktire-sizeed pizza doesn’t
matter–just if the radius of the ‘slices’ are accurate?..As they have been
quite successful, a ‘How We Did It’ book with DVD cud be enlightening–
and cud ring up s’more income for them? Readers may be able to deduct
the cost?..Which wud they be highest on–the GOP slate or the [NYT. Ama-
    zon, etc.] non-fiction book list?..Aaron Allen…

It’s an issue of transparency. There are a lot of troubling issues here. You know, when Mitt Let office, his staff purchase all the computers and the server’s hard drives were wiped clean. Very odd.

Mitt made his money the hard way, through hard work. Still, by not releasing his tax returns and info on bundlers, he’s keeping himself open to all sorts of attacks. A smart candidate would have gotten this out of the way in the primaries.

Frankly, I doubt there is anything he’s hiding in his returns. More likely he just doesn’t think it’s anyone’s business. But that’s not the right attitude.

I like that Sarah Palin, as Governor, was so transparent. She even put the state’s “checkbook” online. Alaskans could look at every purchase.

Anyhow, Romney is hurting himself. Obama and company are playing hard ball.

Of course, Obama’s very first act as president was to issue and executive order sealing ALL of his records. But that’s not gonna help Romney.
