When All Else Fails, Democrats & the Media Race-Bait (Updated)

It comes as no surprise that the Democrat Party and their comrades in the mainstream media would pull the race-baiting trick at the last moment during the final stretch of the health care debate. We knew it was coming, it always does.

Congressman John Lewis, Democrat from Georgia, or as CNN describes him “Civil rights icon and veteran Rep.” claimed to be the victim of racist slurs by Tea Party protesters as he entered the capitol on Saturday. This article is one of the most distorted pieces of garbage masquerading as “news” I have ever seen from the infamous McClatchy brigade:

WASHINGTON — Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol , angry over the proposed health care bill, shouted “nigger” Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis , a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s.

The protesters also shouted obscenities at other members of the Congressional Black Caucus , lawmakers said.

“They were shouting, sort of harassing,” Lewis said. “But, it’s okay, I’ve faced this before. It reminded me of the 60s. It was a lot of downright hate and anger and people being downright mean.”

Lewis said he was leaving the Cannon office building across from the Capitol when protesters shouted “Kill the bill, kill the bill,” Lewis said.

“I said ‘I’m for the bill, I support the bill, I’m voting for the bill’,” Lewis said.

A colleague who was accompanying Lewis said people in the crowd responded by saying “Kill the bill, then the n-word.”

“It surprised me that people are so mean and we can’t engage in a civil dialogue and debate,” Lewis said.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver , D- Mo. , said he was a few yards behind Lewis and distinctly heard “nigger.”

“It was a chorus,” Cleaver said. “In a way, I feel sorry for those people who are doing this nasty stuff – they’re being whipped up. I decided I wouldn’t be angry with any of them.” …

Thousands of demonstrators gathered outside the Capitol on Saturday as the House Democratic leadership worked to gather enough votes to enact a health care overhaul proposal that has become the centerpiece of President Barack Obama‘s domestic agenda. Most were affiliated with so-called tea party organizations that originally sprang up during last summer’s protests of the health care proposals.

Heated debate has surrounded what role race plays in the motivations of the tea party demonstrators. During protests last summer, demonstrators displayed a poster depicting Obama as an African witch doctor complete with headdress, above the words “OBAMACARE coming to a clinic near you.” Former President Jimmy Carter asserted in September that racism was a major factor behind the hostility that Obama’s proposals had faced.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D- S.C. , said Saturday’s ugliness underscored for him that the health care overhaul isn’t the only motivation for many protesters.

“I heard people saying things today I’ve not heard since March 15th, 1960 , when I was marching to try and get off the back of the bus,” Clyburn said. “This is incredible, shocking to me.”

He added, “A lot of us have said for a long time that none of this is about healthcare at all. It’s about extending a basic fundamental right to people who are less powerful.”

(Writer’s note: I purposely left off out the Barny Frank element to this blog post because I didn’t have to time nor patience to research it.)

A lot of us have said for a long time that none of this is about healthcare at all.” No kidding, Mr. Clyburn! We fully understand that this isn’t about health at all. It is about power, control, and the system of government in which this once fine nation will operate in the future.

I really like how the author cites Jimmy Carter’s widely denounced characterization of the Tea Party as evidence to back up the assertion that any disagreement with this socialist leaning president is akin to racism.

Here is actual footage of what happened… Judge for yourself if these congressmen lied or not.

Meanwhile, if you poke around all of the other suspiciously timed, race related stories, you may run into an article about the anti-war protest held in San Francisco on Saturday. According to the media, a “peaceful” group of “thousands” took to the streets to exercise their free speech rights and demonstrate against the war in Iraq. Here’s what the ‘non-hateful’ protesters looked like at their gathering.

“Anti-war protesters stomp on an effigy of former
Vice President Dick Cheney in Washington, on
Saturday, March 20, 2010. “- AP

Dick Cheney had no comment about this stunning display of hatred. Of course, nobody called the former Vice President, who is currently not involved in any of the nation’s conflicts by the way, either.

Saturday’s protests were historical moments in hypocrisy and activism for the leftist media. It also marked a new low in acts of desperation from members of congress, lashing out at the citizens of this nation. Given the fact that none of the claims of racist slurs coming from the protesters in DC have been substantiated by any credible or objective source, this behavior by elected officials is beyond disgraceful.

The left in this country cannot win the debate, they have lost public opinion, so their last desperate move is to demonize and marginalize their deemed foe. The patriots that flocked to DC to protest this overbearing governmental power grab are treated as some sort of organized hate group. Race issues were never a part of the health care debate and it sure as hell isn’t a part of the Tea Party movement. This is just the way the left operates. It would be laughable if only the press didn’t play along and sell these deceptions to the rest of the country as legitimate news. It’s a good thing that the majority of Americans can see the media for what it is now. Nobody forgets the salesman that sold them a lemon.

Update: Big Government posted more video of the Congressional Black Caucus leaving the Capitol.

Here’s Jim Hoft’s take on Saturday’s events.

I’m always SO angry when the libtards and the Lamestream media continue to peddle the biggest lie of all – that we in the Tea Party Movement are racists! Hell, NO!! But those who level those attacks definitely are!! A new phrase that seems to ring very true – and I’m beginning to use it a lot lately, much to the consternation & shock of Libs to whom it is directed – is, “Scatch a Lib – and you’ll get a racist;” or, “Scratch a Lib – and you’ll get a nazi!” Both are unmoderated slams at the ugly Left; but as more & more of their tactics are revealed, these accusations ring truer than ever!

  2. I posted last night on my blog about how the Lame Stream Media didn’t even cover when the Tea Party, of hundreds of thousands of them, marched on Washington in 09-09 but this they can spread all over. It’s just all BS!

    Just asking……
Is there a Congressional White Congress since there is a Congressional Black Congress?
    If not….why not?

I think it’s appalling myself that this black caucus even existed within our government. We are struggling to improve race relations all across the country and what is this groups response? There has been a white caucus all along in washington now its our turn to say who can be in our club? White congressman have tried to join and been turned away. can anyone say reverse discrimination?

  6. I wish i could say i was surprised but I am not. Every time someone objects to this new adminstration’s policies or plans they bring up race. In america today if you are mostly native american and partially white you are labeled as white, My question is if President Obama is part white why is he labeled black ?
Nothing he promised in his campain has come to pass. Further more if we don’t do our jobs we get fired right? can we fired him?
Of course not…. really a sad time in american history when the people of whom they took an oath to serve are now the very people they blaim for their mis-deeds.
More talk has been about how this is some how President Bushes fault. While I admit Bush wasn’t the best, I would rather have him in office right now. To make my children and grand children pay for something most of the nation was against is wrong…. all because Obama wanted to make his mark on history.
well he did as the President who forcfully took the people rights away and smiled while doing it.
I am sure the founding fathers would be crushed to see America today, Lady Liberty truely weeps on this sad nation.

  7. Where’s the outrage? That Congressman Jim McDermott stood on the House floor and referred to this country’s citizens as “tea baggers” a vial term if there ever was one!

I wrote him to let him know how I felt about it! http://www.house.gov/mcdermott/contact.shtml

Wow. That really surprises me when the Liberals pull out the race card. Doesn’t it you?
