That was a small group of people. Their central government was God Almighty. They didn’t imprison anyone, however, and say you do it our way or not at all. Socialism did not come from the Bible. Please look further into chapter 5 of Acts. This is the story of Ananias and Sapphira. They owned a parcel of land and sold it, but kept back part of the sale for themselves, but Peter confronted Ananias and said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
In socialism, a central entity owns the entire means of production and doles it out as it sees fit. There is no private ownership. However, Peter makes it quite clear that Ananias owned the land, and that he had every right to keep back some or all of the sale if he wanted. It was always in his “own control.” The issue here is that Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, tried to make it look as if they had given the entire proceeds, when they actually had not. The reason they were judged is because they lied. Peter granted that they had the right to do whatever they wanted to with their own property; they just couldn’t do one thing and then say they had done something else.
In chapter 2, the people willingly gave out of their means in order to help those who truly were in need. IT was done willingly, not because a central government decided to take what the people had and give it to others. That is a common misinterpretation Robert Dinkle. That was not socialism what the early Christians practiced, it was Consecration. There is a big difference. Socialism is based on fear and force. You must do what the central government with all power says, or risk death. You have no freedom in socialism. You are told what you can and cannot eat, where you can or cannot live, what you can or cannot do, etc. and least of all you have no freedom to leave. Consecration is based on free will and love. If the people wanted to leave, they could take all that was theirs, and leave, and if they had stewardship over real estate property, they could sell it and take the profits with them. While they were there engaging in Consecration, they, by their own free will consecrated all that they had to help take care of everyone, and not only were their needs taken care of, so were their wants! In socialism, only the ruling class gets everything they want. BIG DIFFERENCE! Fear and force, vs. free will and love. Get it?

Here we are 5 years later and your comment regarding socialists, “but America knows exactly who and what you are” takes on a sad poignancy. Seems many millions haven’t the first clue. The progressive socialists’ infestation of education over a century ago has reached near full infestation. Their agenda of intentional dumbing down while replacing education with indoctrination and conditioning has been far more successful than we’d realized even 5 years ago.
Most Americans, especially ‘millennials’ and younger, either have no idea what socialism is or if they’ve heard of it, think it’s grand or at worst, benign. I offer as evidence the supporters of the openly admitted socialist Bernie Sanders for openers.
The only other political ideology as destructive to life and liberty is Islam with it’s death count of over 240 million–in 1400 years…but still racking up body count…as is socialism.

Thank you for your reply, Gary. You’re correct about the vileness of socialism on full display in Venezuela. It was on full display in the USSR and East Berlin, Cuba. I’m old enough to remember them, be taught about the evils of it in public school–back when totalitarianism in every form and ‘flavor’ was still considered evil. That was before the progressives had fully consumed the public education system and before their “assassin”, political correctness was set fully free to silence dissent with the “narrative” of whatever regime was in power.

Fascism, Socialism, and Communism are three dogs fighting over the same bone. They are all totalitarian forms of government that require central planning at the expense of individual liberty. Fascism and Communism are simply two different results from following a socialistic model. When you abolish the private sector and property and nationalize labor then eventually the government must resort to some form of totalitarianism to sustain itself… it ends up being conscripted labor. Capitalism is the only economic model to promote freedom. The Austrians had it right. Capitalism cannont be fascism b/c true Capitalism is free of government intrusion. Corporatism is wronlgy labeled Capitalism by many on the left (Michael Moore) but in reality… Corporatism requires a strong central government with the ability to control the private sector. On a side note I have never seen so many different interpretations as to what capitalism, socialism, a republic, a democracy, communism is and isn’t.

You don’t know your Bible. Devine Law is still in effect, and always will be and always has been: the commandment, judgments, precepts and so on of the Holy Bible. A temporary “taskmaster” set of laws, the Ceremonial law, was placed on the rebellious Jews, and includes the things you are mentioning. The Ceremonial Law was done away with when the Temple covering was rent and Jesus died and rose from the grave. But people who only have a superficial knowledge of the Bible keep bringing up things like this, not knowing the truth of the matter.
I.m not sure anymore, after reading all of this, as to just what it is that we have.I do know that as it was laid out it worked pretty good until the supreme court and a bunch of self interest politicians started to get involved.

The “free corn” is very seductive. Communism / Socialism offer the illusion of ultimate equality, “free” medical care, and “free” homes and food. Marx said, “To each according to his abilities; to each according to his needs” The implication is that we would all be taken care of by the state. The sad reality is that great promise has never been fulfilled. Many have tried; all have failed.
With any form of government someone has to be in charge. Someone has to have the power to distribute the benefits. Those with power will eventually abuse it. They become the new elite. While millions wait in line for their free bread; the elite have theirs delivered. While millions live in no rent apartments; the elite have no rent homes, and summer cottages. While millions wait for that doctor’s appointment; the elite have their own physician.
This is how communism and socialism works. They give you “free corn” until you are dependent on them. Until you lose your ability to support yourself. They rob you of your free spirit and your self respect. You become their domesticated worker pigs.
How to Catch a Wild Pig

This is what is happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms — just a little at a time.
There is no difference between communism / socialism and any other corrupt government system. They all have “haves” and “have nots”, the privileged rich and the desperately poor. If that is true, why then is democracy preferable over communism? Simple, democracy and capitalism have one advantage over all other systems of government. The word is “Freedom”. The freedom to have the possibility to change and improve. Not just change and improve the government but change and improve individually. There is social and economic mobility. The “have nots” can become the “haves”. Rather than hunger for the false promise of socialism and communism, seek to change and improve the system you already have.

There are people, even in this country (such as Obama & CO.) who believe this, and want a major “redistribution of wealth.” I have always found it very interesting that people will use the Holy Bible to defend this type of socialistic system! The Good Book also states that sloth is a sin, and encourages people to earn their living by the sweat of their brow. It certainly does not mention, nor promote, either socialism or communism which, by the way, are very closely-related. The only major difference is that in a communist form of government you have “totalitarin rule” over the masses who are always at the mercy of the government rulers and their edicts. Democracy does not, and cannot, exist under such a system where there are few human rights and no incentives since the government either ultimately owns, or controls, most everything!!!

I recently watched a copy of the History channel’s WWII in HD. The expression on the faces of the French people in the scene where the French are standing along the curb as the German troops march seemed familiar in some way and then I remembered where I had recently seen it. What the hell does it matter what the bible says about selling, keeping, giving, sharing or anything else have to do with the matter 1000’s of years after some of this stuff was written. We have seen capitalism, socialism, communism and every other damn ism at work and the only one that offers the freedoms that we have here in the U.S. of A. WORKS and it doesn’t mean a damn thing what you call it.
Now as to the bible and who said what and when – we saw this in practice back in the 50’s. Someone saw something that mystified them and someone said it came from space and someone else called it a flying saucer THEN THE SHIT BEGAN TO FLY! Everyone that wanted to be noticed took the story and ran with it, enhanced it added to it, took from it and in general made a mountain out of a molehill. But, they wanted to be in the mix, they wanted to feel important and so with the re-writing and re-telling of what someone said they saw or heard. We have come to call that time “the age of miracles.” It wasn’t miracles, it was mass hysteria because the world was a hell of a place and they wanted to have something to look forward to.
Funny that Moses could only go in to the Tabernacle when the smoke stopped rising to the sky and after he went in and then came out the smoke started again! You could not enter the Tabernacle if you were a sinner and the only reason to go in to the Tabernacle was to have sins forgiven! C’mon, think about it!

It’s funny, I wrote this a LONG time ago, but it keeps getting posted around and people keep commenting. Man at one point something like 10,000 people a day were reading the story.
To me it is what it is, but it’s interesting to see so many who don’t have a clue what socialism and communism is.
There is only one problem with this and that is that the people that don’t know what the difference between the may types of rule are, are also the ones that do not care, are not interested, but unfortunately are in the majority and are allowed to vote – how the hell do you think we ended up with Ali Obama in OUR White House – so I am afraid that you are preaching to the choir!

Since weve had TWO Elections after this came out, Could we get an Update? How many & what are the names of socialists NOW in Congress?
Some on the list are no longer members of Congress, but the vast majority still are. We do need to update this though, hopefully we can get a definitive list soon.
All of them if they were not then they would be battling to make changes to help Americans. Sadly for the last 2 decades we are still in the same rut without any improvements. They are getting stronger.

I have said this for years without any proof. By just watching and listening to these people. Every member of the military have fought against communist oppression yet here it is legally rearing it’s ugly head to destroy America. We are going to have to do more than vote them out because the elections are rigged. Plus most places do not require an id to vote. America has to come together to get rid of this growing cancer on the country there are too many young people climbing on the socialists/ communist band wagon. Start groups in every city have a plan and if it comes down to it band together when they come to get your guns. It is approaching the time when every American is going to have to fight to be free. I wonder how many will actually do that. It’s not as easy as people think .and from my experience there are not very many who will stand up for what’s right when push comes to shove. Mark my words if you think what happened in Germany pre world war I and II can’t happen here then continue sitting on your la-te-da and you will lose everything you have worked for and believed in. People its already happening with obamcare do you think everything will go back to the way it was even if we can get obamcare cancelled no it wont. In this deal Congress made to extend the debt limit they put in a bailout for the insurance companies who have more money than anyone.
