The National Hot Rod Association just wrapped up it’s 60th anniversary season with some of the best racing in the history of the sport. Last Monday, after the incredible season finale at Pomona, NHRA held it’s annual awards banquet.
NHRA crowned it’s champions in the Full Throttle, Get Screened America, and Lucas Oil series. In addition to honoring the men and women champions, a whole slate of awards were given out, including the Auto Club of Southern California Road to the Future [rookie of the year] and the Full Throtte energy drink Hardest Working Crew awards for crews in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Besides the awards, there are great video highlights from the season and moving speeches by the winners.
One of the highlights for me was Bill Stevens, who introduced each professional category with a wonderful and really poetic presentation. I’ve been a drag racing fan since I was old enough to read, think 1960s, and Stevens’ presentations had chills running up and down my spine.
Congratulations to all the champions, and everyone in the NHRA who put on one hell of a show.
