David Dewhurst a lying liar who lies
By Gary P Jackson
If you live in Texas, you’ve seen the dishonest attack ads Lt Governor David Dewhurst, the GOP Establishment candidate for the U.S. Senate has been running against Tea Party and Sarah Palin favorite Ted Cruz.
For the past month we have seen ads from Dewhurst attacking Ted Cruz, the former Solicitor General of Texas, over his law firm’s representation of a Chinese firm that makes tires. In dispute is the ownership of the particular intellectual property involved in a certain tire.
Dewhurt’s entire ad is dishonest. For one, it makes it seem Ted Cruz was directly involved in the lawsuit, and representation of the company in question. Cruz was not. Yes, the firm he works for was, and is, but Cruz had no involvement with trying the case.
Also, Dewhurst’s ads have featured the aggrieved businessman, who claims he was wronged by the Chinese firm. They portray this man as an American businessman, and falsely claim that [thanks to Cruz] American jobs have been lost. This is a lie. The man in the Dewhurst ads whining about Cruz actually moved his company to China 20 years ago!
Today Mark Levin tweeted: “Dewhurst thinks Texas Republicans are stupid… ” He also inclued a link to a National Review Online article by Brian Bolduc that sets the record straight. I urge all Texans, as well as concerned Conservatives to read the truth here.
On Ted Cruz’s website John Drogin has this to say:
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst is lying about Ted Cruz on China. Period.
Like President Obama, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is desperate to talk about anything but his own dismal record – pushing an income tax disguised as a “wage tax” and increasing spending $72 billion – so he distracts, deceives, and diverts.
But voters aren’t buying what he’s selling.
When we tell people the truth about Dewhurst’s China lies, they get it. And they get mad that Dewhurst is trying to deceive them. So here’s a short summary of the facts for you and any friends who may be interested:
The moderate establishment will always cling to power. The only hope Dewhurst has is to spend millions lying about Ted Cruz, the proven conservative endorsed by Sarah Palin, Tea Party Express, Rand Paul and many others.
We’re in the home stretch. Since Sarah Palin’s endorsement last week, we’ve gotten over 1000 contributions, and–thanks to you–our momentum is off the charts. Keep spreading the word, vote early (now), and get 12 of your friends to do the same.
Together, we’re going to win.
Early voting runs today through May 25th. Please be sure to vote, invite 12 friends to vote, and share the truth with them about Dewhurst’s China lies.
Following the tremendous victory in Indiana over a 36-year entrenched moderate Republican, here’s what conservative columnist Bill Kristol had to say: Texas is Next….
David Dewhurst is part of the Republic Establishment, and as I wrote earlier today, real reformers like Ted Cruz are not wanted by the GOP elites.
For those not familiar with Texas’ form of government, the Lt Governor is equal to, if not more powerful than the Governor. It’s the Lt Governor who sets the legislative agenda and wields a lot of power.
One of the initiatives that Governor Perry talked about, but Lt Governor Dewhurst managed to kill was legislation stopping the TSA form groping Texans at airports. Tough anti-groping legislation passed the Texas House. Dewhurst killed the bill.
It’s also been said that Dewhurst worked to kill legislation that would have banned so-called sanctuary cities in Texas. Sanctuary cities are cities that allow illegal aliens safe haven, not only refusing to enforce the law, but advertising their city as a safe haven for illegals, thus acting as a magnet.
On the other hand, Ted Cruz as Solicitor General has fought hard to secure Liberty and Freedom for all Texans.
From Ted’s bio page:
rom 2003-08, Ted served as the Solicitor General of Texas, the chief lawyer for the State before the U.S. Supreme Court and all the state and federal appellate courts. Cruz was the youngest Solicitor General in the nation, the longest serving Solicitor General in Texas, and the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas.
Ted has authored over 80 U.S. Supreme Court briefs and personally argued 40 oral arguments, including 9 before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Under the leadership of Attorney General Greg Abbott, Ted defended Texas values, winning repeatedly on a national level. During Ted’s service as Solicitor General, Texas achieved an unprecedented series of landmark national victories, including successfully defending:
*U.S. sovereignty against the World Court in Medellin v. Texas.
*The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms;
*The constitutionality of the Texas Ten Commandments monument;
*The constitutionality of the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance;
*The constitutionality of Texas Sexually Violent Predator Civil Commitment law; and
*The Texas congressional redistricting plan.
Ted has been described by National Review as “a Republican star rising in Texas,” and as “a great Reaganite hope.”
The National Law Journal called him “a key voice” to whom “the [U.S. Supreme Court] Justices listen.”
He was named by American Lawyer magazine as one of the 50 Best Litigators under 45 in America, by the National Law Journal as one of the 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America, and Texas Lawyer as one of the 25 Greatest Lawyers of the Past Quarter Century.
Ted currently serves as a Partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Houston, where he leads the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national Appellate Litigation practice. In addition, from 2004-09, he taught U.S. Supreme Court Litigation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law.
Prior to serving as Solicitor General, Ted served as the Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, and Domestic Policy Advisor on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.
In addition, Ted clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court. He was the first Hispanic ever to have clerked for the Chief Justice of the United States.
Funny, President Barack Obama claims to be a constitutional scholar, and law professor. Well, Ted Cruz actually is one, and has the record of success to back it up.
The choice for Texans couldn’t be more clear.
Do we want another go along, get along GOP establishment hack, who is unwilling to defend Texas against a runaway federal government, and the invasion of illegals across our southern border? Or do we want a proven champion of Liberty and Freedom who will go to Washington and shake things up?
I say vote Ted Cruz. He’s right for Texas, and right for America!
