Who is Cathy Maples?

Cathy Maples is a Huntsville businesswoman, has struck up a friendship with Palin over the years. And when a special occasion arrived, Maples turned to Palin. Camden Brewer, Maples’ grandson, is among the 77 New Hope graduates who will here Sarah Palin speak tonight.  Maples confirmed in an email today to AL.com that she asked Palin to speak at the graduation.

“I have met Sarah numerous times and have had dinner with her,” Maples said in the email. “She is the real deal and she is not afraid to speak out about things that are not ‘politically correct.'”

Maples, who is president of R&D Electronics in Brownsboro, bid $63,000 in 2009 to win a dinner with Palin.Read more

Palin to Speak at New Hope Graduation

SarahpalinstripedshirtfromcecephotoshootAs reported by WHNT19News:

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Sarah Palin, arguably one of the most well-known women in the Republican Party in the last several years, is scheduled to visit to Madison County next week.

Dr. David Copeland, Madison County Superintendent, confirms to WHNT News 19 Palin will speak at New Hope High School’s graduation ceremony.

The event is next Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. at the Von Braun Center.  It is an event that requires tickets, and a limited number will be made available, Dr. Copeland said.

“What an honor for the students of New Hope High to hear such a prominent speaker as Mrs. Palin,” Dr. Copeland said.  The students got the news at school on Tuesday morning.

Palin is a former vice presidential candidate, the first Republican woman to get the party’s nomination.  She ran on the Republican ticket with Sen. John McCain in 2008.  She also served as governor of Alaska from 2006-2009.  She currently works as a political commentator and endorses various Republican candidates for state and federal office.

To maintain the integrity of New Hope’s graduation ceremony, attendance will be limited to the schools, businesses, and communities of New Hope and Owens Cross Roads that support the vision of the school and the accomplishments of the students and educators in the Madison County School District.

A limited number of tickets will be available to the community and the public on a first come, first-served basis, through Dr. Copeland’s office by email: dacopeland@madison.k12.al.us.

WHNT News 19 reached out to the Alabama Republican Party on Tuesday morning for more insight.  The staff did not confirm the appearance, but said Chairman Bill Armistead spoke with Palin recently, who indicated she selects one high school each year to visit for the commencement address.  This year, she decided to come to Alabama.  The state party said staff members were reaching out to New Hope High School for more details.   More

  • Hi, here is a quick summary of tonight’s event.

Sarah spoke in front of a very enthusiastic crowd tonight. Baldwin county is the reddest county in Alabama, so to say she was with friends was an understatement!

Of course, I was there with a contingent of the 2016 Earthquake group, 30+ strong from all over the country.

As always, when you are in the presence of Sarah Palin, you can feel the spirit of God around you. You feel uplifted and full of REAL HOPE!!

Sarah laid it all out. She stressed teamwork, how important it is to take the senate, and that means supporting RINO’s in the General elections in November.

She was firm about this, but also made it known she was going to do some RINO hunting on the primaries!!!

She also was bold in saying that what is going on from this administration has to be on purpose, because they can’t be that dumb in DC!

This is the first attack from our Northern light that millions of us have felt.

Just to sum up the night, Todd sat at a table right beside us. He was gracious and took a picture with me.

He also said he would try and have Sarah come and have a group picture with us when she was done with the book signing.

To our delight Gov. Palin did come out and had a group picture with us as we proudly displayed our earthquake name tags in full view.

What a night, I can see those democrats trembling from my house!

Video: Sarah and Todd Palin Pitch In To Help In Alabama

By Gary P Jackson

From Samaratin’s Purse:

Todd Palin, four-time winner of the Iron Dog off-road snowmobile race across Alaska, along with his wife, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, joined Samaritan’s Purse volunteers to help tornado victims in Birmingham, Alabama, on Wednesday.

I came here to work hard,” Todd said. “There’s no point in being here if you’re not going to work hard.

After getting a safety briefing and talking with volunteers, the Palins joined a crew assisting homeowner J.L. Price. The couple helped haul off brush and debris, and with the rest of the crew, prayed with Mr. Price.

It feels great to be working out here,” Sarah said. “I hope more people sign up with Samaritan’s Purse so they can be blessed like I am today.

The Price home took a direct hit from a tornado and sustained extensive damage.

It’s hard to imagine anyone surviving this,” Todd said. “What a terrifying time it must have been for them. This just really gets you.

While going through the debris, Todd found a wooden plaque bearing the Price name and nailed it to a tree, one of the few things remaining standing on the property.

This is the third time the Palins have participated in Samaritan’s Purse relief efforts.

In December 2010, Todd, Sarah, and daughter Bristol joined Franklin Graham for a two-day visit to Haiti. They surveyed our work with cholera patients, handed out Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts to children, and visited a shelter community Samaritan’s Purse built in the aftermath of the January earthquake.

In 2009, the governor joined Graham to hand out food parcels to families in Alaskan villages facing hunger because of a harsh winter.

I appreciate their willingness to bring hope to people in need,” Graham said.

Samaritan’s Purse is helping out all over the South with relief efforts and they need your help. They are asking for volunteers who want to come and help clean up, the first step to rebuilding. Money is also needed to help the people whose lives have been turned upside down.

Please go to the Samaritan’s Purse website and get involved.
