Despicable: Obama’s IRS Targeted Reverends Billy and Franklin Graham

By Gary P Jackson

Billy Graham is an icon in America. Graham has given counsel to our nation’s presidents, and inspired untold millions to find God, or strengthen their relationship with Him. Graham Ministries operates Samaritan’s Purse, a humanitarian effort that helps those in need worldwide.

You might remember the Reverend Franklin Graham traveled to Alaska after a series of natural disasters left natives, who live in remote areas, on the brink of starvation. Reverend Graham and Alaska’s Governor Sarah Palin would deliver supplies personally to those in need. Later, Governor Palin accompanied Reverend Graham on several missions, including one to Haiti.

Seeing the government attack such a wonderful ministry is more than troubling, it’s pure evil. And pure politics.

The IRS came after Billy Graham, too, his son charged Tuesday in a letter to President Barack Obama.

Franklin Graham, the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the family’s international humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse, said that the IRS notified the organizations in September that it was conducting a “review” of their activities for tax year 2010.

With the IRS admitting it gave extra scrutiny to conservative political organizations, Graham says he now believes that the review was part of an Obama administration effort of “targeting and attempting to intimidate us.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association urging of voters to back “candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel” during last year’s presidential race was the reason why IRS agents visited the North Carolina offices of both Graham groups, the letter accuses.

While these audits not only wasted taxpayer money, they wasted money contributed by donors for ministry purposes as we had to spend precious resources servicing the IRS agents in our offices,” Graham wrote in the letter, which was shared with POLITICO. “I believe that someone in the administration was targeting and attempting to intimidate us. This is morally wrong and unethical – indeed some would call it ‘un-American.’

Graham said that “in light” of the IRS admission that it targeted tea party groups for added scrutiny, “I do not believe that the IRS audit of our two organizations last year is a coincidenceor justifiable.”

This very well could be a violation of the Graham’s First Amendment rights. Reverend Graham feels he was targeted because his ministry appealed to voters to choose those who would follow the word of God and support Israel. A noble plea, if there ever was one.

I find this quite evil, since democrats like Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and of course, Barack Obama himself, have been known to show up at black churches and hold political rallies poorly disguised as worship services. The Obama regime has openly appealed to church leaders to help pass their radical anti-American agenda. I doubt the Marxist leaders of these churches have ever had to worry about an assault from the IRS.

It’s time to fire the leadership of the IRS, and it’s time to take Obama down, and fit him for his orange jumpsuit! As Americans, we simply cannot tolerate this direct assault on the very core of our being. We simply cannot tolerate this assault on our Constitution.

Sarah Palin: Helping Haiti this Christmas

A Christmas message from Sarah Palin:

If you are still looking for a cause to donate to this Christmas, allow me to make a suggestion. Todd, Bristol, Greta Van Susteren, and I recently traveled to Haiti to witness first hand the amazing work done by Rev. Franklin Graham’s organization Samaritan’s Purse. Bristol wrote about our experiences on her Facebook page here.

In an effort to fight a deadly cholera outbreak in Haiti, Samaritan’s Purse has flown over a dozen flights carrying vital medical supplies to the two cholera treatment centers it has been running since the start of the outbreak. These centers, run by medical volunteers from the U.S., Canada, and the UK, have helped save the lives of nearly 5,000 patients.

The cholera treatment centers are part of a larger Samaritan’s Purse effort aimed at restoring the human dignity and economic independence of the Haitian people. Since the disastrous earthquake in January of this year, Samaritan’s Purse has spent $29 million on relief, helping more than half a million people by building 10,000 shelters (more than half of the shelters built in Haiti to date have been put up by Samaritan’s Purse); providing non-cholera related medical assistance (including 250 surgeries) to a total of 43,000 patients; providing clean drinking water to more than 75,000 people; and clearing the rubble from 179 building sites.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of countless small donors. With all the blessings bestowed upon us in this great country of ours, we also have an opportunity to share those blessings with people who are less fortunate. Samaritan’s Purse is doing exactly that – saving lives one person at a time.

If you’d like to support the great work Samaritan’s Purse does in Haiti and around the world, please visit their website.

Below you’ll find some photos of our Haiti visit taken by Greta Van Susteren. They show what we saw at a temporary housing camp, at the cholera clinics in Bercy and Cité Soleil, and at a meeting where we helped to bring smiles to children’s faces by handing out shoeboxes filled with presents as part of Samaritan’s Purse’s worldwide Operation Christmas Child.

The people of Haiti are in real trouble. The cholera outbreak is killing them off left and right. The conditions after the earthquake are deplorable. To make matter’s worse, their government is in complete turmoil. This is a good lesson in my depending on government isn’t the best course of action. Even though this is one of the things governments should try to help with, depending on them can be hazardous to your health.

Samaritan’s Purse is doing God’s work down there. They are making a real difference. If you are looking to give to a worthy charity that will actually make a difference, this is the one.

You can help by visiting their website here.

Both Sarah and Bristol have a bunch of photos from their trip to Haiti, taken by shutterbug Greta Van Susteren. They are both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. Visit Sarah’s page here and Bristol’s page here to check them out.

Have a blessed Christmas

~ Gary
