Sarah Palin: The Dewhurst Campaign Underestimated the Wisdom of the People

By Gary P Jackson

Sarah Palin was a guest today on Your World with Neil Cavuto and talked with Eric Bolling, who was filling in for Neil.

She talks about the huge win by Ted Cruz here in Texas, and notes the Dewhurst campaign spent more time listening to failed campaign consultants than the people. She also reveals that she’s beaten one of those consultants, who has a reputation of poor performance, when she ran for governor of Alaska.

I guess all of the Republican Establishment™ hacks draw from the same pool of consultants. No wonder they suck!

You do NOT have Tea Party support: An Open Letter to David Dewhurst

By Gary P Jackson

This is extraordinary. I’ve never seen a group as large as the Tea Party have to publicly tell a candidate to cease and desist. Of course David Dewhurst is no ordinary dishonest politician. This is a guy who has produced some of the most despicable ads we’ve ever seen, aimed at his opponent Ted Cruz. This is a guy who has robocalls using someone impersonating Sarah Palin, claiming she supports him, when in fact she strongly supports Ted Cruz, and was just in The Woodlands on Friday.

Texas is Tea Party country. More voters identify themselves as Tea Party, percentage wise, than any other state. Among the Tea Party, Ted Cruz holds a substantial 75-25 percent advantage. That’s the ball game.

Now it seems Dewhurst, in a panic is embracing the Tea Party and claiming it’s support. Well, Te Texas Tea Party groups have a strongly worded reply. From the Tea party Express’ Texas Blog:

An Open Letter to David Dewhurst

You do NOT have Tea Party support: An Open Letter to David Dewhurst

Dear Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst,

As Texas tea party leaders, we reject your campaign’s recent claims that you have earned tea party support. We stand with the nation’s largest tea party political action committee, which has more small donors in Texas than you have – over 30,000.

Your performance in Austin is identical to the “go along to get along” establishment political culture in Washington. This behavior has led to a nearly $16-trillion-dollar national debt, infringement on our liberties, and the erosion of the American Dream. We need a U.S. Senator that is a bold leader and a proven conservative, and that is Ted Cruz.

It is obvious that your recent tea party posturing is just a desperate attempt to trick voters in the closing hours of this election. Though you are right to recognize that the tea party will be the deciding factor in this election, our support is not with you. You have failed to attract the support of this grassroots movement because of your record as Lieutenant Governor.

The Tea Party was born out of the shared frustration with both parties, which have failed to address the fundamental problems that are facing our country: unsustainable spending, job-stifling regulations and an ever-growing federal government. This movement has coalesced around the common goal of reducing the size, cost, and intrusiveness of the federal government by electing bold leaders that will stand up in difficult times.

Your dishonest and misleading smear campaign of Ted Cruz, coupled with your recent false claims of tea party support, show clearly that you simply represent the political status quo rather than the leadership we require. We have spent our time, dollars, and passion to elect Ted Cruz because he is the candidate qualified to stand up for the voice of We the People.

Report: Dewhurst Campaign RoboCalls Falsely Claiming Support From Sarah Palin

Say, isn’t that Ted and Hedi Cruz behind Sarah Palin? Why yes, yes it is!

By Gary P Jackson

Saw this tweet from Michael Berry on Monday:

I’ve talked with a member of the Tea Party who verifies this to be true, noting they spoke with a lady who had gotten one of these calls, and believed it.

We know Dewhurst is desperate, as polling shows today’s election is going to be a blow-out for Ted Cruz, but this is just pathetic. What’s even more pathetic is the fact that for weeks, Dewhurst and his buddy Rick Perry have been hammering “outsiders” like Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint who are supporting Ted Cruz.

If this election proves anything, it proves that David Dewhurst is a nasty, pathetic, loser. Not only must he be defeated in this election, but any election he stands for in the future. This is the sort of man who must be run out of politics forever. Texas, and the world, deserve better.

PPP Final Poll: Ted Cruz Over Dewhurst 52-42

By Gary P Jackson

Looks like all the vile, nasty ads that David Dewhurst has been running for weeks are working well!

In the final poll going into Tuesday’s election, Ted Cruz has a ten point lead over David Dewhurst. If that lead holds it may be one of the Tea Party’s most impressive victories yet. And a victory for the American people.

Polling consistently finds that more Texas voters consider themselves Tea Party people, than in any other state. Among the Tea Party folks, Ted Cruz absolutely destroys Dewhurst 75-22.

PP’s final poll of the Republican Senate runoff in Texas finds Ted Cruz opening up a 52-42 lead, an increase from our survey two weeks ago that found him ahead 49-44.

Cruz’s victory is driven by 4 things: the Tea Party, the enthusiasm of his supporters, a generational divide within the Texas Republican ranks, and the lack of regard the party base currently holds for Rick Perry.

Cruz is ahead by a whopping 75-22 margin with Tea Party voters, more than making up for a 56-39 deficit to Dewhurst with voters who don’t consider themselves members of that movement. There has been too much of a tendency to ascribe any Republican primary upset over the last few years to Tea Party voters, but this is one case where it’s well justified.

Cruz has a 63-33 advantage with voters who describe themselves as ‘very excited’ about voting in Tuesday’s runoff election.

More here.

Don’t let this big lead fool you though. We need everyone to get out there and vote on Tuesday. A blow out win by Cruz will send a strong message to the Republican Elite™!

Desperate and Despicable: New Dewhurst Ad Blames Ted Cruz for Pennsylvania Teen’s Suicide

Gary P Jackson

Just when you think Texas Lt Governor David Dewhurst has sunk as low as humanly possible, he decides to wallow in the sewer. In a new ad, put out by a SuperPAC run by his former chief-of-staff and campaign manager, Dewhurst seeks to place the blame for a Pennsylvania teen’s suicide.

The Dewhurst ad uses a mother’s grief to tie Ted Cruz to her son’s tragic death, even though Cruz had nothing to do with the criminal proceedings surrounding the prison scandal that led to the teen’s suicide, something Dewhurst very well knows.

This is real sleazeball stuff. But it once again serves to remind decent people that the Republican Establishment will attack Conservatives long before they will attack democrats, who they share so much in common with.

It reminds us that Conservatives are fighting this battle on two fronts, we not only have to fight democrats, we have to fight the Republican Party as well. I’ll be honest, if I had my way, after the election, we’d all start looking at forming a new party and ending the GOP, but that’s easier said than done.

Luckily, in Texas, the winner of the Republican run-off will be the next Senator from the Lone Star State. The choice couldn’t be clearer either. Ted Cruz is a Reagan Conservative who has a record of defending Liberty and Freedom. He’s stood the test and passed. David Dewhurst is a corrupt, Establishment hack who has stood with the left, defeating solid legislation that would protect Texas. He’s a tax raising, amnesty loving, crony-capitalist. He’s been a disaster for Texas, and will be horrible for America.

Most of all though, Dewhurst is a despicable human being. He’s been lying about Ted Cruz for months, from the ads claiming Cruz “sent jobs to China” to lying about his record as Texas Solicitor General, Dewhurst has shown he can’t compete in the marketplace of ideas. This latest ad though, is beyond all human decency. Dewhurst has proven he will sink to the lowest levels of depravity to grab more power. He’s an embarrassment to the entire state.

Texas politics have always been hard core and nasty, but with this new ad, Dewhurst takes nasty and vile to an entirely new level. It’s unacceptable at every level. Texas simply cannot allow a man of David Dewhurst’s character to represent us in Washington.

Texas and America deserve a lot better.

Vote Ted Cruz.

David Dewhurst’s “Leadership”: How He Killed the TSA Anti-Groping Bill

By Gary P Jackson

Lt Governor David Dewhurst has used his power to kill several important pieces of legislation, including a ban of sanctuary cities for illegals, and legislation that would have made the invasive groping done by the TSA a crime.

Texas, just like America herself, was born of revolution. Texans fought and died for Liberty and Freedom, and we don’t look kindly at those who try and take our Liberties and Freedoms away.

In the face of a hollow threat from the Obama regime’s TSA, Dewhurst decided to kill the anti-groping legislation rather than stand up and fight to Texas.

In this video outtake from Kings of Texas State Representative David Simpson of Longview talks about the weak “leadership” provided by Lt Governor David Dewhurst and the Establishment Republicans ™ who run this state.

Simpson’s says the letter from the Obama regime, threatening Texas was a “come and take it” moment. I agree!

For our non-Texan readers, Representative Simpson was referring to the Battle of Gonzales, which is thought to be the first battle of the Texas Revolution.

Trouble had been brewing between General Antonio López de Santa Anna, who had declared himself ruler of Mexico, making their constitution null and void, and the Texans. The Mexican government sent a force of 100 men to repossess an old cannon that had been provided to the settlers for defense against Indian raids.

In response to the Mexican Army, Texans, under the command of Colonels John H. Moore and J. W. E. Wallace loaded the cannon with scrap iron and fired upon the Mexican troops. After a short fight, the Mexicans retired from battle with one casualty. They were no casualties among the Texans.

The battle flag used by the Texans at Gonzales received considerable recognition and fame:

The Battle of Gonzales and the “Come and Take It” flag symbolize Texas Independence and every Texan’s birthright of Liberty and Freedom. Lt Governor David Dewhurst showed cowardice in the face of a hollow threat from the Obama regime. He failed Texas. What makes anyone think he’ll grow a pair if sent to Washington?

Ted Cruz has stood for Texas. When the United Nations, the World Court, and the Obama regime tried to interfere with Texas sovereignty, Ted Cruz stood for Texas. Ted Cruz fought for Texas, and won the battle to keep the UN and other inferior entities from meddling in Texas’ business.

We have seen the character of both Ted Cruz and David Dewhurst. One will fight for Texas till the bitter end, the other folds up like a cheap lawn chair with a fat man sitting in it! In the face of evil and tyranny, David Dewhurst failed Texas miserably.

Vote for Ted Cruz, he’s the “Come and Take It” kind of leader Texas, and America needs!

Noted Texas Lt Governor Who Hates “Outsiders” Interfering In Texas Politics Gets Another Infusion of Outside Cash

By Gary P Jackson

Texas Lt Governor and his buddy Governor Rick Perry have been whining for months about “outsiders” interfering in Texas politics and “telling Texans what to do.” As is always the case, these two braying jackasses are the ones up to their necks in special interest money from Washington and beyond.

From the Dallas Morning News: [H/T: StaceinTexas]

Casino billionaire comes to the aid of David Dewhurst in his Senate bid

Las Vegas casino magnate and big-time Super PAC donor Sheldon Adelson has come to the rescue of David Dewhurst’s Republican Senate campaign. Adelson, the CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., was a major backer of Newt Gingrich in his failed presidential bid. He has contributed $250,000 to the pro-Dewhurst SuperPAC the Conservative Renewal committee. That accounted for most of the $280,000 the PAC raised in May and June, according to the latest filing with the Federal Election Commission. Adelson is particularly interested in US support for Israel.

Conservative Renewal is one of two SuperPACs aiding Dewhurst against Republican rival Ted Cruz in the July 31 GOP runoff for the US Senate seat left by retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. The other SuperPAC, Texas Conservative Fund founded by former Rick Perry chief of staff Rob Johnson, reports raising $2.49 million in the latest reporting period from May 10 through June 30.

Among its biggest donors were GOP super-donor, Houston homebuilder Bob Perry. The Texas Conservatives Fund is reporting this week that it has spent another $1.3 million worth of TV ads into the Texas Senate race.

There’s nothing wrong with raising money, as long as it’s done legally, but by God if you are going to piss and moan when PATRIOTS like Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint, and Mark Levin support your opponent, and cry about them being “Washington Insiders” you better not be taking any outside money yourself!

In Of David Dewhurst, Cronies, Lobbyists, and Soros Stooge John Podesta I noted that while movement Conservatives nationwide have been supporting Ted Cruz, Dewhurst is funded by lobbyists with an agenda that doesn’t align with the expectations of the American people.

I just got a note from our friends at Tea Party Express, who have been working hard to help us defeat David Dewhurst and elect Ted Cruz that is highly troubling. In fact, it blew my mind.

Let me share it with you and ask that you take action:

Dewhurst took more money from Washington D.C. lobbyists last cycle than both Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi!

You heard that right! It is no secret that Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz’s opponent David Dewhurst has strong ties to the D.C. political establishment, but this revelation shocked even us.

He is using this money to falsely attack our candidate.

With only 12 DAYS until the election, we are responding with an emergency TV ad campaign called “Tea Party Supports Cruz” that will combat the Dewhurst SuperPAC lies and extol the conservative virtues of Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz.

With our nation on the brink of financial disaster, we have to send representatives to Washington D.C. that have the resolve to represent ‘We the People‘ and not special interests.

We are off to a good start, but we still need to raise $19,000 by the end of the day Sunday to finish the production of our pro-Ted Cruz TV commercial “Tea Party Supports Ted Cruz.” We have written the script and recorded the audio, but need the money start and finish the visual production – time is running out!

It is clear that momentum is on our side, but we can’t let up with 12 DAYS to go until this important election.

As the Cruz campaign points out,Only one thing stands in the way of sending a proven conservative who will reduce government and defend the Constitution to the U.S. Senate… raising enough money to withstand another $10 million-plus negative onslaught from Dewhurst and his Super PACs.

Take a stand in Texas with Tea Party Express and help Ted Cruz hold his lead! Donate what you can today. Click here to donate $25, $50, $100, $500, $1000, or even more!

Of David Dewhurst, Cronies, Lobbyists, and Soros Stooge John Podesta

By Gary P Jackson

As the Texas Senate run-off election date draws closer, and now that Ted Cruz is leading in the polls, avid Dewhurst plays dirtier and dirtier. He just got a big infusion of cash to help him do it.

One of Dewhurst’s dishonest attacks on Conservative Ted Cruz is that Cruz is a “Washington insider” and is backed by Washington. This comes from the fact that several Tea Party groups based in Washington are helping fund his campaign. As are several Conservative lawmakers.

Now I guess one can technically say Ted Cruz is getting money from D.C., but there’s Washington money and there is WASHINGTON money.

Timothy Carey at the Washington Examiner has some interesting tidbits on both Cruz’s fundrasing as well as Dewhurst’s. While Ted Cruz is being funded by regular folks, Dewhurst is getting money from big special interest groups, including ones that heavily supported the passage of ObamaCare, are hoping to regulate the coal business out of existence, and bankers.

Carey exposes the real shocker that Dewhurst attended a fundraiser last year at a townhome owned by George Soros stooge John Podesta.

Podesta is a hard core communist. He co-founded the Center for American Progress with Soros. Podesta also has ties to ACORN and other anti-American groups. He has long, deep ties to the Clintons. Podesta was on Barack Obama’s transition team, and once called on Obama to use “armed forces” if necessary to implement his radical agenda.

Discover the Networks has more on Podesta.

John Podesta’s thoughts on the Constitution.

Why would a Texan, who claims to be a “conservative” be hanging out with someone like John Podesta? Why is he taking money from these groups? Could it be he is bought and paid for?

From Carey:

The primary runoff for Texas’s open U.S. Senate seat has become another battle along the GOP’s major fault line: the Tea Party vs. K Street.

Former state Solicitor General Ted Cruz is the candidate of the GOP’s Tea Party wing. A poll last week, which found Cruz beating Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst 49 percent to 44 percent, showed Cruz dominating 71-26 among voters who identified as Tea Partiers — a bloc including two of every five likely voters polled.

Cruz’s financial support comes from the same sources that funded the 2010 insurgent Senate candidacies of conservative Republicans Rand Paul of Kentucky, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Marco Rubio of Florida and Mike Lee of Utah in their primaries against establishment-backed Republicans.

The Club for Growth has spent $2.5 million helping Cruz. Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund has put about $773,000 behind Cruz. FreedomWorks is backing Cruz to the tune of $350,000 already, according to data provided by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Dewhurst has pointed to this flood of D.C. money to attack Cruz as the candidate of the Beltway.

Both candidates have their backers in D.C. Cruz’s corner is full of ideological conservatives who have made headaches for the leadership of both parties. Dewhurst’s corner is packed with lobbyists and the political action committees of major corporations.

Dewhurst has hauled in more than half a million dollars from business PACs, which is 33 times Cruz’s take from business PACs. K Street lobbying firms are siding with Dewhurst, too. The PACs of Greenberg Traurig, K&L Gates, McGuire Woods and other lobbying firms have donated to Dewhurst.

Late last year, Dewhurst held a reception at the townhouse of powerful lobbying firm Podesta Group. Last week, GOP lobbyist Rick Murphy threw a Capitol Hill fundraiser for Dewhurst.

A Dallas Morning News reporter wrote of last week’s event: “Dozens of donors — many wearing nametags indicating they work for lobbying firms and government contractors, as is typical at high-dollar campaign events in Washington — filed out of the townhouse near the Capitol as Dewhurst schmoozed inside.”

One Dewhurst-supporting lobbyist in attendance told me, however, that the crowd was more “Texas-heavy” than K Street-dominated.

This crossfire about donors tells us something about the conservative base today. Attacking one’s opponent as being too close to Washington is a fine tradition in American politics, but attacking an opponent as too close to business and K Street is fairly new in the Republican world. Cruz is doing just that.

Everyone who makes their living from continuing the government spending gravy train is supporting Dewhurst,” Cruz told me in a phone call.

Sure enough, Dewhurst’s donors include plenty of corporations whose lobbying agendas clash with today’s conservative agenda of free markets and lower spending.

The American Hospital Association has been the most consistent booster of Obamacare. The lobby group even filed a brief with the Supreme Court arguing on the administration’s behalf regarding the individual mandate. AHA’s PAC gave $5,000 to Dewhurst. Other Obamacare backers whose PACs have funded Dewhurst this election include the American Medical Association, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline.

Dewhurst’s donor rolls also include bailout beneficiaries like the Mortgage Bankers Association and the National Association of Realtors. These groups might be whom Cruz was describing when he called some Dewhurst supporters “special-interest lobbyists who suckle on government.”

Even the energy companies backing Dewhurst aren’t exactly free-market cowboys. Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s PAC has given Dewhurst the maximum $10,000, while the company’s CEO, Aubrey McClendon, has personally given Dewhurst $5,000.

McClendon and Chesapeake, the nation’s No. 2 natural gas producer, spent $26 million in recent years funding the Sierra Club’s campaign against coal, which is the largest rival of natural gas in electricity generation. Chesapeake also contributed to the American Lung Association’s campaign for stricter regulations on coal-fired power plants.

In Texas, Chesapeake stood to benefit from government intervention in the energy sector — intervention Dewhurst supported. Dewhurst in 2011 pushed an energy bill, SB 15, criticized by the free-market Texas Public Policy Foundation, which likened it to a Colorado bill “evidently intended to increase demand for now-plentiful natural gas by suppressing demand for coal.

This is troubling for me all around. Hanging with Soros stooges is downright un-American, but taking money from corporations that are trying to destroy one industry in order to make money for theirs, is worse. It seems Dewhurst has already tried to push legislation in Texas that would have benefited Chesapeake, you can bet he’d be in their pocket if he made it to D.C.

We already have enough corrupt politicians in Washington, we don’t need to send them reinforcements. Dewhurst is the exact sort of politician we are trying to run out of politics forever. He cannot be allowed to win.

Fake Anti-Cruz Ad Not as Absurd and Ridiculous as the ones David Dewhurst is Running!

By Gary P Jackson

It’s not often that a parody of something is less ridiculous than what is being parodied, but with David Dewhurst’s continual lies about Ted Cruz, the latest ad all but implying Cruz is a mole for the Chinese government, this hilarious spoof, put together by Michael Berry, actually sounds more believable!

Sampling Carl Douglas at the end was more than I could handle though. Had me on the floor!

As absurd and ridiculous as this is, it’s still no where near as absurd and ridiculous as the REAL ads that Lt Governor David Dewhurst is running against Conservative Ted Cruz. Texas politics have always been cutthroat but David Dewhurst has lowered the bar quite a few notches.

I’ve never seen so many lies come out of one campaign before. But this reminds me that the Republican Elites™, those country club, GOP Establishment liberals, will ALWAYS fight a Conservative harder than they’ll fight their liberal democrat brethren. They never let you down on this.

We talked about some of the strong arm tactics Dewhurst is using to pressure those with business before the Texas legislature to support him, and how Ted Cruz is responding to Dewhurst’s lies. Cruz talks to Michael Berry about all of Dewhurst’s lies on The Michael Berry Show:

Nothing like the truth to wash away the lies, huh.

Join Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Mike Berry, and all of us Texas Conservatives in supporting Ted Cruz in the July 31 runoff election.

Check out Ted’s website here. Help educate your friends and family. Make sure they know the truth about Ted Cruz, and what a despicable, degenerate liar David Dewhurst is.

Texas has a chance to send a principled Reagan Conservative to Washington. Ted Cruz is good for Texas, good for America.

Ted Cruz Addresses David Dewhurt’s Latest Lies, Fear-Mongering, and Strong Arm Tactics

By Gary P Jackson

As you may have heard:

Nearly every state Senator signed an open letter addressed to “Fellow Texans” that offered a defense of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who is running against Cruz in a July 31 GOP primary runoff to replace retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R).

The letter never once mentions Cruz by name. But it makes clear the state Senators’ displeasure with statements he has made on sanctuary cities, state spending, the state’s Transportation Security Administration “Anti-Groping” bill and a state income tax.

Eighteen of 19 Republican state Senators wrote that statements “have been made that are untrue regarding the records of Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, the Republican Texas Senators, as well as Governor Rick Perry.”

There’s a reason for this, and it has nothing to do with the “truth” as implied by the letter. Back in May, Katrina Trinko, of National Review Online wrote Will Fear Decide Texas Senate Race? Candidate is accused of using his lieutenant governorship to scare up support. .

In the article Katrina lays out the scenario for the strong arm tactics that a very desperate David Dewhurst is now using.

As she points out, Dewhurst is very powerful. [and also highly corrupt] She makes the case that lawmakers are scared to cross Dewhurst for fear of losing donors, committee assignments, or worse. Texas politics have always been hard core and corrupt. Dewhurst is just the latest in a long line of despicable politicians who use the power of their offices for their own gains, rather than for the good of the state.

…. according to some observers, one of the factors he has working in his favor is fear.

In Texas, the lieutenant governorship is a hugely powerful position. Its occupant is the leader of the state senate, meaning he appoints committee chairmen and members, determines the order in which bills are taken up, and decides which committees get to handle specific pieces of legislation.

At the very least, everyone has to be aware of the sway Dewhurst will have if he remains lieutenant governor. And according to state insiders backing Dewhurst’s most prominent rival, former state solicitor general Ted Cruz, it goes beyond that: They say the Dewhurst campaign has made it clear that those who want to see their legislation pass if Dewhurst remains lieutenant governor had better back Dewhurst for senate. The Dewhurst campaign denies this categorically.

One source familiar with Texas politics who supports Cruz says that he knows “a number of significant donors” who also have business interests in the state and have been “told by their lobbyists in Austin, ‘Don’t dare give money to Ted, don’t endorse Ted . . . because if you do you’ll never get anything else through in Austin.’

A former head of a major industry group who supports Cruz says that the Dewhurst campaign emphasized to trade associations in the state that Dewhurst expects a donation from them. And the subtext was clear: Dewhurst was “keeping a list [of] who didn’t support him or contribute.

There is absolutely an atmosphere citywide here in Austin that if you have business before the legislature, you better think twice before you give money to anybody running against Dewhurst, specifically Ted Cruz, because you might end up with a horse head at the end of your bed,” says an Austin lawyer who supports Cruz, referencing The Godfather.

If you or your client have any legislative agenda whatsoever, there’s always fear of retribution. And so nobody can get out there and publicly support Ted,” says a registered lobbyist in Austin who supports Cruz.

Anyone with a stake in the next legislative session, from lobbyists all the way up to the governor, have to worry about [what will happen if Dewhurst remains lieutenant governor], because if they cross Dewhurst, they can pretty much forget about their legislative agenda,” says a second source familiar with Texas politics who supports Cruz.

That’s why even natural allies of Ted Cruz, such as Governor Perry, have little choice but to endorse Dewhurst,” the source adds. “That’s the power of the establishment, and it’s a real test of the conservative movement’s strength.

Lovely ain’t it.

Dewhurst can’t win on ideas, or his record, so he lies constantly about Ted Cruz, calls his strong supporters like Sarah Palin and Mark Levin, “Washington insiders” [snort] and strong arms everyone to support him [Dewhurst], or else.

Texans have had enough of these corrupt, power-hungry jackasses. It’s time to end these abuses and end them now.

In an open letter to Dewhurst, Ted Cruz sets the record straight:

Open Letter to David Dewhurst

By Ted Cruz

As you know, Americans are actively engaged in a debate of enormous consequence – will our nation continue down a road paved with more government spending, more government control over private citizens, more deficits and debt – or will we reduce the size and scope of the federal government to the limited role envisioned by our Founding Fathers?

You are asking Texans for the opportunity to be their voice in the United States Senate at this time of great need. But when asked by Texas voters, the very voters you are asking to trust you to be their voice in Washington, to stand on your own two feet and explain your record as Lt. Governor and your vision for the future, you refuse.

As recently as this Sunday, and 36 times before, you have refused to stand before the voters in debates and explain your record and how your actions in the U.S. Senate would be different from your actions in the Texas Senate.

Even now, as you continue spending millions of dollars on campaign ads distorting my record and your own, you refuse to honor your May 30, 2012 commitment to stand on your own two feet and debate before the voters of Texas, choosing instead to call upon surrogate after surrogate to speak on your behalf, many of whom are in the uncomfortable position of knowing you and you alone control the Texas legislative agenda, and will continue to do so should you fail in your bid to become Texas’ next U.S. Senator.

Despite your efforts to hide behind surrogates, including Governor Perry and a letter drafted by a lobbyist for the City of Austin, only two names appear on the Republican Run-off ballot for U.S. Senate: David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz.

As John Adams famously observed, “facts are stubborn things.”

What follows are facts.

If you disagree, honor your commitment to explain your record before Texas voters, not by hiding behind people who are not running for U.S. Senator, but by standing on your own two feet.

*It is a fact that under your leadership, the sanctuary cities bill did not pass into law.

*It is a fact that under your leadership, the TSA groping bill did not pass into law and according to at least one Senator, you personally solicited the help of a Democrat Senator to kill the TSA bill.

*It is a fact that under your leadership, you led the effort to increase spending and the overall state budget grew $72 billion – from $116 billion in 2003-2004 to $188 billion 2010-2011. And while you claim to have “cut” the 2012-2013 budget, it is a fact that you “kicked the can down the road” by utilizing 24 months of revenue for 19 months of services in the most recent budget and consistently utilized accounting tricks, against the wishes of conservatives.

*It is a fact that while you blame the “All Funds” budget increase on federal mandates, you repeatedly led the charge to INCREASE federal entitlement spending by arguing that more Texans should be eligible for Medicaid and you used federal stimulus dollars to “balance the budget.

*It is a fact that in 2007, you stated that you supported a guest worker program “for those here today illegallyDewhurst: Mr. South Texas Furthermore, after the Houston Chronicle confirmed this fact by providing a web link to the text of your speech on your taxpayer-funded website, that the text of your “Mr. South Texas” speech suddenly disappeared from the website.

*It is a fact that you did support and actively encourage the passage of a “payroll tax” in 2005.

Indeed, because of parts of your record, a long-time Texas reporter recounted that a senior Republican Senator told him that, if the Texas Senators had to vote on whether David Dewhurst should be considered one of the Ten Worst Legislators in Texas, the vote “would be 31 to nothing.”

These are many of the facts that are your record — the record of David Dewhurst. These facts are undeniable. If you disagree, or if you believe your record as leader of the Texas Senate is what Texans want and deserve in the U.S. Senate, stop hiding behind surrogates, step forward and honor your commitment to debate these issues, and articulate your vision of how we restore the Constitution as the dominant influence over the role and scope of the federal government.

There is nowhere to hide in the United States Senate – no others you can call upon to be your voice. On the contrary, on July 31, conservative Texans will choose the individual they believe can best be their voice to stop the spending and restore the Constitution.
