Reminder: Newt Gingrich Teamed Up With Hillary Clinton, Wanted Government MANDATED Health Care

As of May 2011 Newt Gingrich said he supported ObamaCare’s government mandate to force American’s to buy health insurance

By Gary P Jackson

You just thought THIS was Newt Gingrich’s ultimate betrayal:

I mean seriously, this was only at the time Conservatives were in a death struggle with the global warming zealots and con artists like Al Gore who looked to cash in on the $10 TRILLION a year carbon trading business. And were is good old Newt? Canoodling Pelosi on the couch, SUPPORTING Al Gore’s friggin’ hoax!

That didn’t piss you off sufficiently? Maybe THIS is what you thought was Newt’s ultimate betrayal. Once again, here’s good old Newt, right in the middle of serious legislation, and working FOR the enemy of all that is good and decent!

At the very time John McCain was yelling at the top of his lungs that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were about to destroy our economy, and the entire Republican Congress was working to reform them, to STOP the meltdown that would eventually hit us, and we are still unable to recover from, where was Newt?

Oh, Newt was working for Freddie Mac, of course. He was paid $300,000 to lobby Congress on their behalf, and stop those much needed reforms! At the time Newt told the world that Freddie Mac was a “solid business model.

Sadly, both of those betrayals are nothing compared to this deal. Newt, as Speaker, made a “name” for himself for opposing HillaryCare. And yet, like he has consistently done since leaving elected office, he once again sided with liberal democrats, on what has turned out to be the defining issue of our times: Government MANDATED Health Care.

Oh, and who did he seek out for this ultimate betrayal? None other than Hillary Clinton!

A taste from the New York Times circa 2005: [emphasis mine]

In the 1990’s, these two rivals stood on nearly opposite ends of the political spectrum; he led the assault on the Clinton presidency and helped derail the ambitious health care plan she championed.

But oddly enough, something has changed since then, and it has people talking.

Mr. Gingrich, the former House speaker, has been working alongside the former first lady on a number of issues, and even appeared with her at a press conference on Wednesday to promote – of all things – health-care legislation.

But more puzzling than that, Mr. Gingrich has been talking up Mrs. Clinton’s presidential prospects in 2008, to the chagrin of conservative loyalists who once regarded him as a heroic figure. Last month, he even suggested she might capture the presidency, saying “any Republican who thinks she’s going to be easy to beat has a total amnesia about the history of the Clintons.

What gives?

For Ms. Clinton, standing side by side with her husband’s onetime nemesis gives her the chance to burnish her credentials among the moderates she has been courting during her time in the Senate.

But in comments this week, she portrayed the rapprochement as one born of shared policy interests, not calculated politics.

I know it’s a bit of an odd-fellow, or odd-woman, mix,” she said. “But the speaker and I have been talking about health care and national security now for several years, and I find that he and I have a lot in common in the way we see the problem.

For his part, Mr. Gingrich, who helped lead the impeachment fight against President Bill Clinton, called Mrs. Clinton “very practical” and “very smart and very hard working,” adding, “I have been very struck working with her.

The Clinton-Gingrich connection comes as Mrs. Clinton has increasingly staked out moderate positions in several areas. She has recently promoted a more gradual approach to guaranteeing health care for more Americans, a departure from her efforts in the 1990’s, when Republican critics like Mr. Gingrich accused her of advocating a big-government takeover of the health care system.

Her recent views on the subject struck a chord with Mr. Gingrich, she recalled.

Newt Gingrich called and said, ‘You’re absolutely right,’ ” Mrs. Clinton said.

As it turns out, Mr. Gingrich and Mrs. Clinton have a lot more in common now that they have left behind the politics of the 1990’s, when she was a symbol of the liberal excesses of the Clinton White House and he was a fiery spokesman for a resurgent conservative movement in Washington.

Beyond the issue of health care, Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Gingrich have forged a relatively close relationship working on a panel the Pentagon created to come up with ways to improve the nation’s military readiness, according to people close to them.

[ ….]

For all the headlines this unlikely duo is grabbing now, the thaw in their relationship dates back at least to December 2003, when Mr. Gingrich showed up on “Meet the Press,” right after Mrs. Clinton had made an appearance of her own, and predicted that she had what it took to be the Democratic nominee for president – a comment that was noticed inside Mrs. Clinton’s inner circle.

On Thursday, he reiterated his belief that she will be a formidable challenger if she decides to run for the presidency in 2008. “Any Republican who thinks she’s going to be easy to beat in 2008 really misunderstands the Clintons.”

Exactly why Mr. Gingrich has been so effusive about Mrs. Clinton is an open question. He says he has been impressed by the job she has done since becoming a senator.

But others say that he gains as much politically as she does by sharing a stage with her, at a time when he is said to be mulling over the possibility of running for the presidency in 2008

It’s mutually beneficial,” said Hank Sheinkopf, a Democratic strategist. “He gets to appear to be a mainstream figure and she gets to appear as someone who is willing to work with everyone, no matter their ideology.”

But Mr. Gingrich may end up paying a price politically for engaging in what many conservatives regard as heresy. “He is trying to change his image into a softer and more gentle Newt,” said Michael Long, the chairman of the New York State Conservative Party. “That is a major mistake on his part.”

Ben Mankiewicz talks about Newt and his problem:

Newsmax Magazine reported in May of this year that [incredibly] Gingrich still supports an individual mandate!

Gingrich Backs Obamacare’s Individual Mandate Requiring Health Insurance

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that he strongly supports a federal mandate requiring citizens to buy health insurance – a position that has been rejected by many Republicans, including several who likely will be running against him for the Republican presidential nomination.

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gingrich told host David Gregory that he continues to advocate for a plan he first called for in the early 1990s as a Congressman, which requires every uninsured citizen to purchase or acquire health insurance

Since leaving office Newt has proven that he will side with the far left on every issue that matters to the American people.

We all go after Mitt Romney, another con-artist trying to become president, because of RomneyCare … and rightly so …. but it seems that even in the 1990’s Newt Gingrich though a government mandate to force Americans to buy health insurance was the ticket.

Again, just like we can’t trust or support Mitt Romney because of RomneyCare, how can we support Newt, who also loves government mandates? This is the very opposite of Conservatism, and unconstitutional as well.

Newt is no more likely to help repeal ObamaCare than Romney is. And don’t think the democrats won’t use their good buddy Newt’s love of the mandate against him come election day!

The great Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave …. at warp speed!

Now that Governor Palin has announced she won’t run for President, and all of the Flavor-of-the-Month candidates have imploded, a lot of people are looking at Newt Gingrich as some sort of Conservative savior. I hope these folks come to their senses.

Newt says all of the right words, all of the pretty words. Newt has SOUNDING like a Conservative down pat.

The problem is, he’s the farthest thing from it. Newt is a lifelong Establishment™ politician. He represents the kind of hustler we are trying to run out of politics. He’ll say anything to Conservatives hoping to win their vote, but looking at his record, he’ll just be another Statist. He would be our worst nightmare if, God forbid, he were to be elected.

People always make excuses for Newt’s personal life. His skirt chasing, his adultery, and use his alleged conservatism as some sort of shield. In reality Newt proves that if one can’t be trusted by those they are most intimate with, they can be trusted by no one. Newt is no Conservative, and has betrayed conservatism, and the American people time and time again.

Newt is not fit to be president, or fit to serve in any capacity. He’s nothing more than an enabler to all of those who are systematically destroying America.

Breaking: Rick Perry Admits That He Is Indeed Dumb

By Gary P Jackson

On Tuesday I addressed Rick Perry’s letter in support of Hillary Clinton’s plan to “reform” health care in America. I noted this was just one in a series of poor judgements, and even poorer policy, that render Perry unfit to hold the highest office in the land.

What I didn’t address what his campaign’s weasel words on the subject, as quoted in the Daily Caller: [emphasis mine]

Asked by TheDC about the 1993 letter, Perry’s presidential campaign defended it, saying the full scope of Clinton’s healthcare plan was not yet known when Perry signed it.

You need to read the letter,” top Perry political strategist Dave Carney told The Daily Caller. “He praised her efforts in trying to tackle the issue and urged her not to overlook rural Americans. The letter was at the onset of her efforts before she proposed anything. No one could have imagined the horrible monstrosity she cooked up, in fact not to be outdone until ObamaCare years later.

As Agriculture Commissioner he was concerned that rural Americans would be overlooked and their options even more limited,” Carney continued. Working with the administration regardless of party, working with members of the other party, as long as you don’t violate your principles, is important to getting things done.

I’m getting old, but my memory of the events is Conservatives not only “could have imagined the horrible monstrosity she cooked up” but did from the second it was announced Hillary had started!

The socialist wing of the democrat party spent almost the entire 20th Century attempting to engineer a government take over of America’s health care system. I posted video of Ronald Reagan talking about this in my previous article. It’s worth revisiting.

Like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton is a Saul Alinsky communist. Unlike Obama, she knew Alinsky personally, to the point he tried to hire her as a “community organizer.” Hillary wrote an analysis of Alinsky’s methods for her senior thesis at Wellesley College. They remained friends until Alinsky’s death in 1972.

This is rather common knowledge. Since many, if not most democrat politicians, are followers of Alinsky, surely Rick Perry knew of Clinton’s communist leanings.Perry was a member of the democrat party until 1989.

One of Alinsky’s teachings is to drop the openly radical nonsense, like the terror bombings Obama’s buddy Bill Ayers was into. Alinsky advised his pupils to take a bath, cut their hair, and put on a smart suit. The idea was to blend in with the establishment, and eventually BECOME the establishment. It was a good plan that worked out well, for the hard left. They are now part of the establishment.

Hillary was able to blend in and look respectable, but Conservatives saw her coming a mile away when she pounced on health care. It was a disaster for Bill Clinton, as even some democrats opposed the idea, and would be one of the reasons the democrats lost their 40 year control of the House.

But Rick Perry’s campaign would have you believe “No one could have imagined the horrible monstrosity she cooked up“? It’s more like everyone, but Rick Perry, could imagine it!

This is nothing more than a typical politician trying to spin a horrible decision. A fellow who has a history of supporting plans that Conservatives will never approve of. A candidate who is saying don’t look at my record, just listen to my pretty words.

In the end, there are only two possibilities regarding the Clinton letter. Rick Perry really didn’t have a clue, which makes him incredibly dumb [and naive] or he and his campaign are being a whole lot less than truthful.

Either way, this is not the sort we need leading this nation. We already have Barack Obama, who is both dumb and a liar.
