Hoffa’s Violent Union Thugs Waste No Time: Major Trouble In Washington State Hostages Taken

I’ve had a lot of Perry supporters protest because I called him out for not condemning Jimmy Hoffa’s call to violence in a Labor Day speech alongside President Barack Obama. [after being asked point blank about it]. They told me Hoffa was “insignificant” and his talk was “meaningless.”

It would seem this is pretty meaningful and significant:

From Yahoo News

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.

Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said.

The fight is one union against another. Reminds you of the days of old when one organized crime mob would try to wipe the other out!

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that’s staffing a workforce of other union laborers.

Thursday’s violence was first reported by Kelso radio station KLOG.

Police from several agencies in southwest Washington, the Washington State Patrol and Burlington Northern Santa Fe responded to the violence to secure the scene that followed a demonstration Wednesday.

“We’re not surprised,” Duscha said. “A lot of the protesters were telling us this in only the start.”

One sergeant was threatened with baseball bats and retreated, Duscha said. “One officer with hundreds of Longshoremen? He used the better part of discretion.”

The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

Michelle Malkin has many updates on her website, and reports the violence is spreading to Tacoma and Seattle. Keep up with it all here.

The Daily News has an extensive report, with many updates and a time line. From that report:

About 400 union longshoremen blocked a train for about four hours outside the new EGT grain terminal at the Port of Longview, but the train passed through Wednesday evening after the protesters were confronted by about 50 officers in riot gear.

Nineteen union protesters were arrested and cited for second-degree trespassing, a misdemeanor. Three were arrested when a scuffle broke out with police, and 16 more were arrested when they refused to leave the tracks when the train started up again, Cowlitz County Sheriff Mark Nelson said. Deputies say they are also investigating alleged vandalism to the train after it stopped. The names of the arrested were not immediately available Wednesday night.

“It was a very, very ugly situation,” Nelson said, adding that he fears the conflict could escalate.

Police said a throng of protesters pushed against them, forcing them to beat them away with clubs and pepper spray. Union officials say they worried police were going to arrest Robert McEllrath, president of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, for trespassing, so they moved to protect him. McEllrath was not arrested.

There are threats of more violence from the thugs. Read the entire report here.

Malkin reminds us these union thugs are promoters of the Day of Rage scheduled for September 17.

Also involved with the Day of Rage is ACORN founder and SEIU co-founder Wade Rathke. Rathke, along with domestic terrorist [and Obama BFF] William Ayers, were members of the SDS [Students for a Democratic Society] a communist group that wanted to overthrow the government and staged violent protests along side the bombings and murders of Ayer’s Weather Underground.

It seems this is the start of another attempt by these radical communists to destroy the American way of life.

If this sort of thing isn’t a shining example of the need for a national Right-to-Work law, I don’t know what is.
