sasse debate

By Isabel Matos

Sarah Palin tweeted and posted a reminder for us on her Facebook Timeline todayBen Sasse is the sharpest, most energetic and prepared candidate in this extremely important race. Ben provides THE conservative voice with sensible, successful ideas in the #nesen race. It’s so admirable that this good man has run a positive campaign. How refreshing that he’s not running against anyone, but running for something – and it’s the “thing” Nebraska and all of America needs and deserves! Ben is the worthy candidate with solid conservative principles forming his platform to defend you, the good people of Nebraska. He’s got the guts and the smarts to take back power from Washington and restore it to We the People. Please get friends, family, and all concerned voters to join you tomorrow, May 13th, to send Ben Sasse to serve our exceptional nation as your next U.S. Senator! America will be so grateful.  – Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin endorsed him on March 13th which Ben posted on his timeline.

A lot of pundits and newspapers have been downplaying or dismissing Sarah’s influence in the surge we see in each of the candidates’ races where she has made endorsements. What’s new. At the end of the day it will be undeniable she chose among the candidates out there the ones she thought would best represent us best and GOP will have claimed few victories. Ben Sasse has a comfortable lead of 14 points on the eve of the primary. To help Ben BenforNebraska.com

HIGHLIGHTS

Here is Ben in his own words:

Ben Sasse and Part 1 of Pete Ricketts with Kevin Scholla

From the Cornhusker state, Senatorial candidate Ben Sasse joins Kevin Scholla from MamaGrizzRadio (new outlet) on this Network, like Mama Grizzly Radio on Facebook and Mama Grizzly Radio on Twitter. I have transcribed most, not every word of what was said:

Scholla: You (Sasse) are known as the “ObamaCare Nemesis”…

Sasse:  ObamaCare is an unconstitutional world view. He he was on the cover of Nebraska Review who used that term and says “we’re going to keep fighting”.

Scholla: People say the ship has sailed. Ted Cruz has been left hung out to dry by so many on the Republican side. You believe it can be turned around.

Sasse: It’s fundamentally an unimplementable law. You can’t take over 18% of GDP by writing a 2300 page piece of legislation that they passed without reading, and then adding over 22,000 pages of implementing regulations. They say don’t you people see this is a “set of laws”? But this is a law that has been rewritten 13 times in the executive branch to directly contradict the written text of the legislation. There is no such thing as ObamaCare. There’s a constantly moving target that the Obama Administration makes up as they go along so we have to repeal it.

bs11

Scholla:  Governor Palin got behind your campaign early. She has campaigned for you.

Sasse: It was wonderful for Governor Palin to be with us in our recent rally in North Platte, cattle country in Southwestern Nebraska. It was the biggest political event they had since 1987 when President Reagan was there. Governor Kay Orr of Nebraska hosted the rally. Governor Palin Senator Lee and Ted Cruz all came to rally with us. It was a 60 degree day in the Spring. Ranchers took time off. It was great. 1000 people showed up at a midday, midweek rally which shows the great momentum we have right now.

Scholla: Gov. Palin calls you a proven problem solver. She highlights how you turned things around at Midland University. How would you use those skills in D.C.?

Sasse: Midland was 130 year old college that has been changing kids’ lives but forgot how to pay bills and was looking at bankruptcy 5 years ago. Two-part strategy: tell the truth when something’s not working. That was almost everything. We had 45 majors and minors at the time with 84% students majoring in 7 departments, so 38 departments that were academically not viable. Number two, we put in place a four year graduation guarantee. The average time to graduate was 5 1/2 years. Parents were getting charged extra for tion. We rebuilt the school.

Scholla: You call out Republicans who are failing. It’s not just about party but about country.

Sasse:  We have too many Republicans who want our government to be in charge. Our crisis in Washington isn’t just Democrats wanting Washington to be in charge but we have too many Republicans who want Washington to be in charge. Lobbyists. Having kids makes him want to sacrifice to have them the chances that he had. He is pro-life. For religious liberty and pro-second amendment. Governor Sarah Palin Endorses Katrina Pierson and Greg Abbott

2014_Katrina_Pierson

Katrina Pierson is a Tea Party hero, having founded the Garland Tea Party, and a woman with a great story of overcoming tough circumstances. She’s been endorsed by Senator Ted Cruz [who has called her “utterly fearless“] and Michelle Malkin. Now Governor Sarah Palin weighs in.

Governor Palin also backs the next Governor of the Great State of Texas, Greg Abbott!

Check out Katrina’s [non-campaign] website for videos and great commentary from her.

It’s 2014 so that means mid-terms, primaries, and endorsements.  Earlier today, Gov. Sarah Palin reminded the fine people of Texas that it’s time to replace the permanent political class with “good new candidates who will go to Washington not to line their own pockets, but to help restore our country”.  Palin also reminded folks that early voting in the Lone Star State is now underway.

katrinaPierson

From Palin’s Facebook page:

Texas, it starts with you!

2014 is here. The choices are becoming clearer, and the battle lines are being drawn. The GOP Beltway crowd has convinced itself that the way to maintain or retake the majority is through compromise and capitulation on important issues like amnesty, Obamacare, and the ever-increasing federal debt. They think that by making deals with a deeply unpopular and divisive incumbent president on issues that Americans oppose, they’ll somehow endear themselves to voters.

Enough is enough. The permanent political class in D.C. won’t listen. So, let’s start putting our efforts behind good new candidates who will go to Washington not to line their own pockets, but to help restore our country. It’s time to put inspiration, ingenuity, and integrity over incumbency in the GOP.

Let’s start in Texas. The lines couldn’t be clearer. Katrina Pierson is an emerging leader and important voice for the future of the grassroots conservative movement. Her life’s story is full of hardships she has fought to overcome, which taught her firsthand the importance of self-reliance, hard work, and the blessings of liberty.

A feisty fighter for freedom, Katrina is taking on a powerful incumbent who has so lost touch with the people of his district that he’s not even bothering to spend much time in Texas anymore. It’s not only his district he’s lost touch with, but also the issues important to the voters there. He used his powerful position to oppose the movement to defund Obamacare, has voted to raise the debt ceiling, and has been an advocate for the NSA intrusion into our freedoms. When asked about Katrina’s primary challenge, he said, “these things happen.” Yes, they do. We all know what happens when we come together to support a good candidate like Katrina – the permanent political class loses and We the People win! We win by electing a fighter we can depend on like Katrina Pierson. Ted Cruz calls Katrina “an utterly fearless principled conservative.” He should know. Katrina was among the conservative grassroots warriors in Texas who worked tirelessly to elect Senator Cruz.

Early voting started yesterday, Texas. Get out now and vote for Katrina. Send a message to the GOP elites on behalf of Katrina, just like you did for Ted Cruz in 2012.

And while you are out there voting for Katrina, check the box for another good conservative – Greg Abbott for Governor of Texas. Like Katrina, Greg has overcome many personal obstacles and challenges, which have made him a believer in the power of liberty and the need to defend our freedoms from the overreach of an out-of-control federal government. If he is good enough for Ted Nugent, he is good enough for me!

You can learn more about Katrina Pierson at: www.katrinaforcongress.com
and more about Greg Abbott at: www.gregabbott.com

God bless you and God bless America.

Ralph Samuels was one of VECO’s “Dirty Dozen”

by Stacy Drake

Continuing to look into Ralph Samuels record, the former Alaska legislator who is taking on Sean Parnell in the Alaska gubernatorial primary, I found something ugly. It turns out Ralph, who I wrote about a few days ago and suspect is a corrupt ‘good ol boy,’ is listed as one of “Veco’s Dirty Dozen.”

Back in May of 2007, a former legislator from Anchorage and government watchdog by the name of Ray Metcalfe wrote:

“Even though the FBI’s indictments of dirty politicians and those who bribe them has begun, (just the tip of the iceberg) House Majority Leader Ralph Samuels, Senate President Lyda Green, and about 20 other members of our Legislature who owe their elections to VECO are still stumping for the oilfield services company that is at the center of the ongoing FBI investigation.

Why would any legislator trust those who say the governor’s Alaska Gasline Inducement Act is bad for Alaska, when they know those detractors are directly or indirectly associated with those who bribed our legislators.

They are pushing an ethics bill that does nothing, and – for those who haven’t already figured it out – our state treasury is now funded by a tax scheme that brings in about half of what it should. It’s the same tax scheme referenced in the indictments that VECO bribed our legislators to pass.

If you read the rest of that piece you’ll realize why ACES exists today and also why I call the Palin-haters on the right, “Oil RINO’s.”

Mr. Metcalfe wrote another piece to follow up in October of that year called “Veco’s Dirty Dozen.” He states:

“The following twelve Alaska legislators all have four things in common:

1. Every one of them has taken more than $10,000 from Veco.

2. When Veco owner Bill Allen asked to be relieved of his requirement to register as a lobbyist, they crafted and passed legislation ending Bill Allen’s requirement to register.

3. When presented with hundreds of pages of evidence of Veco’s bribery, each of them refused to respond.

4. When asked to admit or deny under oath whether or not had taken advantage of the illegal polling, services that Veco’s Vice President Rick Smith admitted having provided to over 100 of their favored candidates, every one of the still seated legislators below refused comment.”

1. Mike Chenault, $32,000

2. Ralph Samuels, $10,250

3. Mike Hawker, $21,350

4. Lesil McGuire, $17,550

5. Lyda Green, $18,000

6. Kevin Meyer, $23,350

7. John Cowdery, $45,200

8. Con Bunde, $18,650

9. John Coghill Jr, $10,480

10. Richard Foster, $16,750

11. Fred Dyson, $21,700

12. Gary Stevens, $14,275

He then goes on to warn Alaskans “Watch closely as they go to bat for everything Veco fought for — and remember them next election. “

There turned out not to be another election for Ralph to represent Alaska’s 29th district. He started to run for re-election but withdrew his candidacy during the primary that year. I wonder why? Ralph appeared to go to bat for those he ‘owed his election to’ aside from his lone vote against AGIA. Ralph Samuels also opposed ACES and is a sort of mini-champ for those corrupt influences in Alaska. I’m still digging through his voting record and beyond the big headline votes, I’m curious how much VECO and other ‘bed partners’ influenced Ralph’s decisions.

Speaking of misguided Alaskan’s, I ran into Valerie Henning again while conducting my research. She said “Ralph Samuels for Governor!”

These people are shameless.
