By Gary P Jackson

The annual Troopathon 2012 to benefit our brave men and women who are serving starts today at 4 pm. [eastern] The goal of Troopathon 2012 is to raise money in order to send care packages to these heroes.

From their website:

Never Forget about our Troops!

Want to do something that will REALLY help our troops? Join is us in sending support to America’s bravest!

There are currently over 130,000 troops still serving in Afghanistan, mostly US troops and some from other nations of the 50-member NATO coalition.

Our troops are serving in some of the most dangerous places to be in the world, where the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies continue to try and destabilize a nation to bring back a safe haven for radical Islamist extremists can train, plot, and launch attacks against the nations of the Western world, primarily the United States.

Our mission is to send care packages to support those brave troops! For as little as $25 you can send support to a Soldier, Marine, Airman, Sailor, or Guardsman serving overseas. Each package contains lots of goodies and helpful items that our troops appreciate, such as coffee, cookies, beef jerky, deodorant, wet wipes and more!

This is a wonderful cause that makes sure our brave men and women have some of the niceties that we take for granted. A little taste of normal on the battlefield.

You can help by visiting their website and making a donation today.

As Americans, we enjoy Liberties and Freedoms that most of the world only dreams of. We have those Liberties and Freedoms because brave men and women make huge sacrifices to protect them. They deserve some love from home.

Sarah Palin Speaks At The 3rd Annual Troopathon, Standing For Our Soldiers

Vodpod videos no longer available.

By Gary P Jackson

As we are about to celebrate our nation’s 234th birthday, Sarah Palin joined a host of great Americans, to offer her support for the heroic men and women, who serve in our armed forces. When asked about the poor treatment our Vietnam veterans experienced when they returned home, Sarah had this to say:

I’m ashamed of the way our Vietnam vets have been treated and if there’s anyway we can make it up to them, let us do so. And learning from the experience that some had participated in with that mistreatment of vets returning way back when, let us make sure that never happens again and that we always can keep in mind what it is in terms of the sacrifice being made by our troops today. Let’s show them the support, let’s show them the respect that they so deserve. Bottom line, our men and women in uniform truly are a force for good in this world and it’s nothing to apologize for – it’s something to take pride in! The are our true American heroes!

Troopathon helps raise money to send much needed care packages to our brave fighting men and women. You can help by visiting their website www.troopathon.org or by calling (866) 866-6372. You can also text by cell phone. Text keyword “Care Pack” followed by the donation amount to: 27138.

Help support our bravest as they keep us secure.
