Bristol Palin, on promotional tour for her new book: Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far had some thoughts on Michele Bachmann:
Bristol is more than happy to reveal what she thinks about someone who has announced they are running, Michele Bachmann, who Bristol believes has stolen her mom’s look!
“I think she dresses a lot like my mom,” Bristol tells me. “But a lot, a lot of women have done that the last few years. I do think it’s odd, you know, seeing people with red blazers with their hair up with glasses.”
Bristol added a giggle before continuing her thought about Bachmann, a Congresswoman from Minnesota. “I don’t know if she’s wearing glasses but you want to be hmmmm, do you think that people don’t notice you’re dressing like my mom?“

A Time For Choosing 
To be honest, Bristol never has sounded like the brightest bulb in the pack, but better to be just naive and simple than open one’s pie hole and make inane/lame remarks about any of the other candidates – in particular, the only woman (so far) in the pack, Michele Bachmann! I hope Mama Grizzly gives her a gentle – but firm – lesson in basic diplomacy before she goofs up again. It was really no big deal, but everyone can see that if she so much as opens her mouth, the LSM is going to get after her. OTOH, the LSM won’t have much work to do if Bristol says any other remarks like that! Just sayin’…
Shoot, we’re all laughing out butts off at this one, because Bristol is right! Just no one wanted to say it out loud!
I was worried about the kid when she was hanging with Levi, be she’s got a good head on her shoulders.
Thanks for the reply, Gary – I can see where you’re coming from (sort of…).
In my past life, I was a PR “professional” (it sez here…); and, in that capacity, I often tried to “counsel” my “superiors” on how to respond to the media when in a dicey situation. I learned the hard way – and, after that, my advice was solid (if not always followed! LOL…).
Rule #1, 2 & 3: Do NOT get into a cat fight or hissy fit with another woman; do NOT make judgmental remarks about anything visible or obvious about her; and, if it kills ya, be ever gracious, charming and whatever it takes to lift you out of that cat-fight arena! I should add, of course, that I worked primarily with men – men who were basically chauvinist and thick-headed (but good people!) – and not so much with women (in control/power) that would even ASK my advice (they always knew EVERYTHING! Real know-it-alls!!). Anyway, bottom line: Bristol SHOULD have said: “Michele (or Congresswoman) Bachmann really looks good and has a great wardrobe!” – thus, (1) avoiding altogether any negative comparisons with another woman (like, hellooooo! her own mother, Mama Grizzly herself!!!),, and (2) slyly – and indirectly – trivializing her by talking about her WARDROBE, fergawdssake!! A left-handed compliment can sometimes slip under the radar of obtuse media types if delivered with a straight face…
Bottom line, Gary: Try being, acting & speaking like a female for a few minutes: ‘Tain’t easy! Sarah already has these smarts, but her daughter has yet to learn them – but she’s working on it!!
I’m super-curious about the other one – the one they never mention or even show: Willow Palin. I think she’s giving her mother some teenage “blues” about now, so her Mom is grateful to keep her out of sight and out of vocal range!!! Let her emerge when the “challenging” change from worm to butterfly is complete…
Oh I know where you’re coming from, and agree, but with all the nastiness coming from the Bachmann campaign, I enjoy Bristol speaking out!
Willow is the typical teen. She did win a race the other day. Seems she ‘s pretty good on the dirt. Evidently goofing around at the dirt track on their TV show gave her the racing bug. I can relate!
Kids are kids, but watching Bristol and how she’s taken a bowl of lemons and made lemonade, I think Todd and Sarah raised all of their kids right.
This is going to be a wild campaign, I know that!
Thanks, Gary – you hit just the right note! And, of course, you’re right! Yes, I love watching Bristol, with her new-found self-confidence and straightforward manner. She’ll only grow in the months and years ahead. Each child is a different and admirable personality – and all bear the stamp of the solid Palin household – which is such a wonderful thing for them now and in future (and no matter whether or not the White House is in their future!).
Well, I try anyhow. Bristol is the typical young kid, thrust into an atypical situation. She’s made some big mistakes, but she’s acquitting herself pretty well these days. I think she’s going to be fine.
